I thought it was interesting that tonights episode showed that Dogan arrived on the island around 2004, when i had assumed he had been there about 15 years.
I have no idea where y'all are getting this.

Best episode of the season. I'm surprised that focus group ranked at least three episodes of the first nine above it.
People bitching about answers are ridiculous. The writers aren't going to spell every little bit of information out. We learned a hell of a lot about the numbers the last two weeks. This week we learned about Dogan's backstory and there is a strong hint about the role the alternate reality may play. We also have the most badass character on the show admitting that he has gone full blown evil. Furthermore, we learn that without Jacob (and Dogan), the temple is no longer a safe haven from the MIB.
Biggest question of the night: What did Kate see? Her facial expression when the smoke is passing over her was great. She is obviously seeing something important because she is literally stunned for the remainder of the episode. I rewatched it and there is something going on. I can only make out flashes of light in the smoke so maybe one of you guys can slow it down and see if anything is visible.
This season has been pretty solid and moving at a good pace, in my opinion. We have five episodes (six if you count the premiere as two) and three - the premiere, the Locke-centric, and tonight's - have been excellent. The Jack-centric one last week was pretty good as well.
I agree; my favorite episode so far. Also, now that you mention it (I also mentioned that Kate looked mezed like Claire and Sayid in another post) I did notice that when Kate was hanging on the ladder down in the holding well with Claire she looked up looked shocked. It's like she saw something inside Smokie's smoke as it passed overhead that really shocked/surprised her.

Jin is probably still at Claire's. Sawyer? who knows.

My question where the hell is Hurley and Jack?
probably still at the lighthouse.

At some point don't they say "hey man it getting close to SUNDOWN, we better head back to the temple."
why? Jacob told hurley there was nothing he could do. Maybe it would take too long to get back and they camped out. Who knows.

SPOILER ALERT.... JACK WILL BE HERO
probably.

exactly. Some people you can just jump in a cab and tell them what to do. Some need to stare into the ocean to figure things out.
Or something like that.

Could be. Claire was acting all nonchalant seems like she said something to Kate that she would be safer down in the well. At that moment Kate might have realized that something was up with Claire mentally and was spared because she was aligned with Smokey.

that's what I think. But I am about to go back and watch the scene again.

Someone froze the frame of the smoke monster right before it killed Eko in Season Two and certain signs and pictures could be made out. I immediately thought of this during the scene tonight. They showed the "body" of smoke at least three times while Kate was looking up and her facial expression changed while she was looking at it.

I looked at it frame by frame. I couldn't make out anything. There were parts that looked like light was shining through but nothing in the light that I could make out.
I think she just realized that Claire is with Smokie. Gonna be interesting how Kate and Jin are going to try to get out of things.
I still think Sawyer is conning MIB.

Locke said he knew a way that he could have Nadia again, and putting him in the alternate timeline seems like the only possibility.
I think you guys are putting too much stock in this. MIB is just trying to manipulate him.

possibly. But he did say to Claire that he always does what he says he will do. And I don't know of any time on the show thatthat is not true. Maybe there is but I don't remember it.
Either way, again, sayid said "the only thing I ever wanted died in my arms. And I will never see it again." And the MIB said "what if you could."
that does not mean he can get back together with Nadia.

Whaa whaa, they didn't answer all my questions tonight even though there are 10 episodes left to go! Those of you who can't appreciate a great end to one of the best television series of all time need to move on to mindless garbage such as the latest reality tv show or one of the many incarnations of CSI.

Actually 12 episodes left.
Last nights previews said there are only 10 more episodes until the spectacular 2 hour series finale.

As several have said, the promos promised answers.
Apart from that, the episode sucked until the end.
People who have invested this much time in this show are obviously not CSI humanoids. They like the mystery. I think some people are starting to get annoyed that it seems like many questions will never be answered. I am starting to get that sense.

question
does anyone think that the two altered reality or difference in time or what ever the two story lines are will clash somehow whats going to happen to the group that didn't crash.

Please forgive me Noonan. I'm sorry I haven't posted up to your standards. I will take a self imposed ban for one week... During this ban I will stare out to the ocean and try to figure out what I'm not good at.

For me, the real pleasure is in the journey - watching the story unfold- rather than the destination. Indeed, I will be disappointed if in the end, the answer to every mystery is revealed because then there would be nothing left to think about.

I thought last night's episode was solid.
You cant expect them to answer every question, then there would be no replay value.
You definately cant expect them to answer every question in a few episodes. If they were planning on doing that then the season would be over by now.
They answer one or two questions an episode.
Last night was solid, we now have an idea of what the sideways flashes may be, as well as knowing somemore about the teams.

He'd have to have a pretty convincing point to Sayid in order for him to believe that the Monster could bring Nadia back.
