re: Luke Cage Season 2 Thread

I'm only 6 episodes in and it's obvious that the showrunners are moving towards the Jessica and Luke being a couple like they are in the comics.
On a side note, Simone Missick (Misty Knight) is actually a series regular for Iron Fist Season 2. Not a special guest star...a REGULAR.
If they do have Danny and Misty getting involved I hope they deviate from the comics (she loses the baby which causes them to split - in an alternate timeline they have a daughter named Lucy)

Mariah scenes make me want to fast forward.

I thought it was great. Much better than season 1. Unlike season 1, every episode seemed to be relevant. I was surprised how the show ended. I’m really looking forward to seeing S3. I still have DD season 1 and 2 as the best two Marvel Netflix series. Then I would rank Luke Cage season 2 as third followed by Jessica Jones season 1.

Tier 1 is Daredevil and Punisher. There's a noticeable dropoff after those two.

This season was much better than Season 1. In this season they didn't kill off the most compelling character (and best actor on the show) halfway through the season.
Alfre Woodard is so bad on this show. All of her scenes are hard to watch. Especially the scenes with her and Shades.
I never liked the Shades actor on Sons of Anarchy, or on Luke Cage. But I feel like he got better as the season went on.
Bushmaster got better as the season went on. I actually liked him as a villain and thought his motivations were reasonable (as opposed to Diamondback in season 1).
Tilda was a good actress, wasn't a fan of Nandi, really liked DW. I thought DW's growth over the course of the season was pretty great and really like how he ended the season.
Misty's face in the last scene sums up my feelings on Luke's decision. I'm a big fan of Misty's character and I think the actress does a great job.
I liked the Colleen Wing and Danny Rand cameos. And of course Foggy.
My GF brought up a good point about there probably being just too many characters in this season compared to other Marvel Netflix shows. It did get muddled at times, and if I didn't binge the show over the course of 3 days, I would probably have been wondering who some of these people were later in the season.

Just finished this season, and it sure could have been better. For everything I liked there was something I didn't.
I still can't overstate how much I despise the way they have done Iron Fist.

Anyone else think Harlem's Paradise eventually becomes Heroes For Hire?
Also, we haven't seen the last of Nightshade (Tilda)

A lot of viewers are saying Danny Rand was depicted better in LC2 than any other Netflix show.

Yeah Danny Rand in Iron Fist S1 and the Defenders was a whiny annoying rich billionaire. In LC2 he seemed more laid back, and just wanted to help Luke. I liked him in his LC episode a lot. Heroes for Hire will be dope.

They finally got him right. The current Iron Fist showrunner collaborated with the Luke Cage one for IF season 2.

This.
Also, this season was sooooooo much better than the first one.
Soundtrack was on point again. Plenty of Wu Tang. The "guest performers" at Harlem's Paradise were ridiculous.
Steven Marley, Gary Clark Jr., Faith Evans, Ghostface Killah, KRS1....I mean damn.

The great news is that the showrunners of both Luke Cage and Iron Fist collaborated heavily for episode 10 and for season 2 of Iron Fist.
Simone Missick is scheduled to appear in 7 episodes of Iron Fist season 2.
I really hope that, as part of Daredevil Season 3 we have a "business meeting" between Luke Cage and Wilson Fisk.

A really sneaky easter egg that I didn't catch until another website pointed it out:
In episode 8, Nandi tells Misty that "O'Reilly moved to New Orleans".
Brigid O'Reilly is the female cop from the series Cloak and Dagger, which is set in NOLA.

As a fan of DD s1,s2, JJ s1, and Punisher, could I jump in and watch this season without seeing LC s1, IF s1, JJ s2?

IF s1 and JJ s2 aren’t needed. I’d watch maybe the first four episodes of s1 Luke Cage.

In that episode, i think that episode, where Bushmaster blows himself up, he uses a bomb from Hammer tech.
I was waiting for Danny and Luke to bring up Spiderman when they were talking about protecting their part of the city.

Hammer Tech has been in the series going all the way back to season 1.
The Judas Bullets were Hammer Tech.

Can I get a rating compared to all the other marvel shows on Netflix?
1. Daredevil - Season 1
2. Jessica Jones - Season 1
3. Daredevil - Season 2
4. Luke Cage - Season 1
5. Punisher
6. Defenders
7. Iron Fist
Still watching:
Jessica Jones - Season 2
Luke Cage - Season 2

Luke Cage Season 1 was good until they killed Cottonmouth.

I'm 8 episodes in and this season is almost up there with Daredevil and The Punisher. I just wish I could understand the Jamaicans better. Bushmaster is great.
