Olmos created Martin Castillo. If you notice he’s always finishing up paper work, having people take files away and stuff like that. Olmos said he wanted Castillo’s desk to be spotless, with no paperwork all of the time so all that stuff you see is Olmos’ input and creation. He and Johnson also butted heads a lot, in the early seasons you’ll notice that Castillo barely ever looks Crockett in the eye. Thats all him creating that tension by feeding off these little spats they’d get into. He was just phenomenal.

Imagine watching it in 1984.
It was a groundbreaking show, a cultural phenomenon around the time Dallas and Dynasty were #1 and #2.
It's sort of akin to when Soprano hit. Game changer for TV.
My dad watched it every Friday night when I was a kid. It was like watching a movie to me at that age

Every time a thread about this show is made I like to mention the episode "Definitely Miami ". It has the 80’s wrote all over it and the whole series was stylish and well done. It is on my list of favorites for sure

First two seasons were great. Got cheesy after that.

Other than In the Air Tonight in the pilot Brother’s Keeper, Dire Straits Brothers in Arms in Buses might be the best soundtrack choice. Musically and thematically, it’s absolutely perfect.

The show literally changed TV. Usually it takes several episodes or sometimes a season to find it's niche but this show was special instantly.
