For some reason he has been praised for this role, but his performance was atrocious and every time he’s on screen it feels forced.

This is probably an unpopular opinion, but he was the worst part of the film and honestly brings down an otherwise good marvel flick.

100%. He was the worst part of the movie, and felt like a spoof half the time he was in a scene.

Yep! The scene where he’s fighting T’Challa for the crown and the uncle confesses to being at fault for his father’s death cracks me up every time.

He was the worst part of a very mediocre, cheesy movie

It was a really underwhelming movie that made no sense with the Oakland story line. But hey it was “for the culture”. I really liked Chadwick performance though.

This is correct, but he's not a very good actor in general.

I think it was more his character was written very poorly. Was watching today on FX and realized how pointless the movie was.

I don't think he was bad, but his character was definitely much less interesting and provocative to me than he seemed to be for people who loved the movie.

Agree. He's just kind of a bimbo.

You must hate equity and fairness.

lol you caught me

In reality, the motivation makes some sense. Someone playing that role with more cunning and gravitas would have landed. His delivery was the problem, not necessarily the story.

I’ve never thought he was very good in anything. Very vanilla. No charisma, charm, or memorable personality.

Only reason I thought Creed was very blah.

Yeah I think the problem is he can’t show any real emotion in the roles I’ve seen. It’s all bravado with no depth.

That’s why his Killmonger doesn’t work. There should be pain behind his revenge, but it’s all just chest puffing bs. That’s also why his death is meaningless. It comes across half hearted.

As others have mentioned, it really hurts some otherwise good performances. Chadwick deserved better.

You could say the same for Creed and Creed II; didn't see Creed III because it was just gonna be all him, no thanks.

At the time I thought he played the role well… but after watching it’s a few more times, his character is sympathetic, but he plays it as a blowhard overacting.

Black Panther in general was a completely pointless film. I skipped it before Infinity War and felt like I missed absolutely nothing

BP2 was hot garbage, the CGI in that ending fight scene looked like it was made on a 1990s Dell PC

He's just a mediocre actor. Black Panther was a good movie but not because of MBJ.

I thought he was good in The Wire as Wallace. Otherwise, not a fan.

This. He overacted pretty much the entire movie. Came off as campy and not genuine.

Exactly this. Seems like he got this major push by Hollywood but he's boring as shite and has exactly 0 charisma and screen presence
