Midsommar director's cut Imax re-release 6/20

I originally saw this through a streaming platform at home, but caught the re-release last night on Imax and was so glad I did. What an experience. There is about 23 minutes of extra run time with the DC, which mainly fleshes out Dani and Christian's toxic relationship more, and includes more comedic relief from the friend (dude from The Bear S2 and We're the Millers).
Despite having already seen the movie, I still had the unshakable feeling of dread watching everything play out again on rewatch, and had chills at a few parts at the end with the Imax effects/sound.
Pugh did an amazing job.
Great theater experience!

Midsommar was just okay. There were some good parts, but ultimately it was way too long with too many slow-moving/boring parts.
The absolute last thing that movie needs it an additional 23 minutes of run time.

the movie already felt 23 minutes too long
some of the most realistic mushroom visuals in a movie.

an old man failing to commit suicide and has to get his head bashed in along with another dude eating a woman's pubes doesn't scream, "Great theater experience" to me.

Yeah, for some reason this movie is one of the few A24 films that we didn't actively hate, but Mrs. Vox is prone to putting it on in the background in lieu of anything else going on.
The cliff scene is definitely jarring. In IMAX? Hard pass.

What a boring letdown of a movie

Anybody on here ever seen The Wicker Man? The original Christopher Lee movie NOT the Nic Cage remake. It’s the superior version of Midsommar. I like Midsommar a lot but The Wicker Man is the far superior film.

one viewing was more than enough, I see no reason to put myself through that again unless I need a good nap

They’ve got a new one coming out that’s billing itself as a “psychological horror” film but it just looks more like anti-white propaganda to me. It’s called “The Front Room.”

Did you know there's a sequel made by the same director and it's streaming on Starz? It's also terrrrrrrrible.
The Wicker Tree

It was a creepy movie that was unique in that it was bright and happy for much of it as opposed to dark and gloomy. I liked that originality in a genre that is lacking originality.
