This was the first thought I had. I saw T2 before the original.
I think it’s a pretty close call, original Terminator is underrated.

I dunno. The first one is somewhat ROUGH in parts and mildly incoherent in others. I'm a big fan of the 2nd movie and how it develops the overall story.

The rest are dogshit though.

Blade II. Guillermo del Toro's only good movie.

Technically a prequel. But it’s my #4 film of all time and a masterpiece so I’ll let it slide.

Dang after the first page I thought I might be the first to mention this tour de force.

Though it seems to trivialize the greatest movie of all time to simply say it’s better than paddington I

Also Bladerunner 2049 should be mentioned more. Maybe sparing K and Deckard’s fight being shorter, it’s also a masterpiece and better than the original.

What makes it so brilliant is it doesn’t answer any of the questions from the original and merely expands on them in ways you didn’t think about before. It was my major fear with the sequel is it would attempt to answer its deep questions and ruin it, but Villneauve understood that and knew better than to do it. It went after an undisputed masterpiece and decided to one up it.

There are like five major twists in the movie, one of which being in the first three minutes. Haven’t encountered a movie that does twists and turns as good as this one.

Blade Runner 2049 is a Top 10 movie of all time made in general and I was silent for days after watching from how mesmerizing it is. I always liked Blade Runner and its universe, but didn’t love it until 2049.

"Better" is really tough. "As good" is pretty tough, too

Examples of great (some of the best) "as good" sequels include the second Godfather and Star Wars films.

Better? The Road Warrior and The Wrath of Khan get there, for sure.

ETA: T2 and Aliens should be in the "as good" category as well.
