Netflix‘s “Pride and Prejudice” series has found its Elizabeth Bennet and Mrs. Bennet in Emma Corrin and Olivia Colman, respectively.
They join “Slow Horses” star Jack Lowden who has been cast as Mr. Darcy, as Variety exclusively reported on Wednesday.
The six-part limited series will be a faithful adaptation of Jane Austen’s iconic novel penned by “Everything I Know About Love” author Dolly Alderton and directed by “Heartstopper’s” Euros Lyn. It will go into production in the U.K. this year.
I think Colman will be fantastic as Mrs. Bennett (she can do that over-exaggerated hysteria). Don't know that Lowden is a Darcy to me though. I can see Emma Corrin as Elizabeth Bennett after The Crown, but I'm still 50/50 on it.
It's going to be a faithful adaptation miniseries, like the BBC version from the 90s.

Agreed. I don't see any need for this. The BBC version still stands and can't really be improved on.

Beyond shocked the cast isn't more diverse.

1995 was 30 years ago.
I don't see any reason to not do a faithful adaptation (not a stylized one) for a newer generation. The book still holds up today.

Corbin is a cute woman that despises being cute and does everything possible to not be. Just a bizarre person absolutely addled with the current state of things.

The Goadfather was 53 years ago. Doesn't mean that it needs to be remade.
I'm not saying that Pride and Prejudice is The Godfather but it is a near perfect adaption of the book. Not everything has to be remade.

And The Godfather is an American cinematic masterpiece. Based on a book series written over a couple of decades in the late 60s/early 80s thats only been adapted once to screen.
IMO multiple adaptations of a Top 10 popular British book is apples to oranges. Ironically, the one you praise isn’t the first adaptation to screen by a long shot. There’s something like 17 reiterations on the big screen alone.

I remember when I searched her on Google images after watching the Crown. I kept thinking i had the wrong name or something. It's very bizarre.

One is a movie condensing the book and the other is a series more or less unabridged. Not really all that comparable.
