Do you know what an after movie survey is?
I've been to hundreds of movies in my lifetime and no, i don't know what an after movie survey is.
Maybe i'm in the minority, but from the hundreds of tickets i've purchased, there is no way anyone ever knew my gender, age, or race.

Cool story. They exist

so do the polls that told us Hilary would win in a landslide. You can't poll 500 people and expect that to accurately represent 100 million people.

You do realize that the polls that you're disregarding (because they partially conflict with your argument) also state that word of mouth (your stance) was a large part of the film' success.

do you think those polls would more accurately predict an electoral college or a popular vote win?

4 pages & no mention of black vs. white movie theater audiences. I'm not calling for trouble or problems, but sadly there will be problems with these audiences.
The audience for this movie will be 90-95% white, just like every other Marvel movie.

Where do you see your Marvel movies? Idaho?

THe United States of 12% of the population being black, with the a quarter of that being below the poverty line, so we'll say 8%.
I watch movies in Baton Rouge, where the population is closer to 50/50 black and white, and I've seen ever comic book movie, and i'd say at best, 10% of the audience is black. At best.

You mean the raw data that shows the staying power it has had, comparing that to other movies that had staying power b/c of word of mouth, like GOTG.
There's a difference between coming to conclusions based off raw data, and coming to conclusions based on assumptions.

Yeah if people think ghetto thugs are coming out to see Black Panther they will be sorely disappointed.

The "word of mouth" and demographic data are from the same surveys.

The "word of mouth" data is from the fact that it's ratio of money from opening weekend to it's most recent weekend, is higher than that of most films, and is on par with other films that had great word of mouth, like GOTG. It's not a survey, its called drawing assumptions based on real and complete data.
I don't really care. You can think what you want and this is a stupid conversation, from both of us.
I think Black Panther is going to be an awesome movie. I look forward to learning more about him and the Wakanda.

Not quite the first.....

Here is some insight from you before you saw Wonder Woman. You do a good job at convincing yourself you're right in the midst of reality.
I haven't seen Wonder Woman. And I won't see it in theaters. I am going off hearsay that it's a good movie and using that as a "given" to make my point: that WW has benefitted at the box office from it being the first major superhero movie about a woman.
quote:
I am nowhere near the demographic you speak of and I can't wait to see Black Panther. It is a world that I identify with because I find it fascinating and compelling. If they make a good film it will surpass targeted demographics, independent of what you believe.
I am also looking forward to it and think the black superhero angle will do little to boost its numbers because, as I pointed out earlier, women are 50% of the population and black people are 13%. So what the frick are you blathering about? You act as if you "got me." What exactly did you get me with?
Here's my first post from the thread
quote:
This movie looks awesome. Love Black Panther. A more badass version of Batman.
Here's my second:
quote:
He dossiers, he has all the money of Batman and then some, he has a nation willing to fight for him and develop tech for him, and he has better tech than Batman. And he could kick Batman's arse
And here's my third:
quote:
Yeah anyone doubting WW's success at the box office is due in no small part to its "strong woman" appeal is delusional. It's not THAT good of a movie. It helps that it's a good movie but it also helps that it's about a female superhero. And is the first one. And is part of a universe that, despite its horrendous track record with critics, has been phenomenally successful at the box office.
Black Panther won't get nearly as big an uptick because we're talking about appealing to 13% of the population in black people and 50% of the population in women.
I'm just going to let those sit there and stare at you so you can think about what you've done.
