But I will say, I'm starting to lose empathy for the kid. He's so fricking dumb, It's beyond words and I almost don't care what happens to him anymore.
I'm starting to believe he would not even be upset or comprehend if he were to go to prison. Probably would be all "Aww shucks, I ain't gonna get out to see my afternoon cartoons anymore. Will I at least get some candy while I'm in prison?"
Anyone else feeling this way?
I don't know how you could say you don't feel empathy for Brendan in this situations. He's a special needs kid with an IQ below 70 and a 4th grade reading level. He's the perfect soft target for detectives to question in a situation like this.

There's no blood from Theresa! Her throat is slit, she's shot 11 times yet no blood anywhere? If Steven was to use bleach to clean it up they wouldn't have found his fingerprints. Literally no evidence other than a bullet with Theresa's DNA that was contaminated by the person doing the test.
The blood in her car that was Steven's is damming until you realize there aren't any fingerprints of his ANYWHERE on the car. For that to happen he'd need to wear gloves and the only cut he has was on his finger. It's sickening people can convict someone with so little physical evidence. Not to mention day one the jury was 7 not guilty, 3 guilty and 2 not sure. A juror has a "family emergency" has to leave and is replaced and the next day they have a guilty verdict.

I read the first few posts of the thread then skipped straight to here so to avoid spoilers.
I just finished watching the first 2 episodes. I really like docs like this and am very interested in what I've seen for, but man idk if I want to keep going. For one I'm pissed at all the law enforcement for the county, and I also feel terrible for steve for going through this shite again.
Is it worth keeping on or is it just one infuriating thing after another? I hope it's not a dear zachary type story where it just keeps going downhill from the get go.

I can understand being pissed and wanting justice for your sister during this horrible situation. But anyone can see that Brendan is not fit to handle this situation and that the police did a number of things wrong during this investigation. But he refuses to even acknowledge the idea that the police could be framing Avery.

They found Brandon guilty of sexual assault with no body or DNA evidence
I weep for our justice system.

The worst part for me is I don't know who could have killed Theresa. It damn sure wasn't Steven or Brandon

Not reading this thread since I still have 4 episodes left, but I just wanted to say that
a) it's incredible
b) one of the mainstay reporters looks exactly like Jay from Mr. Show and I laugh every time I see him

I just finished the season. It is just surreal. How can somebody be found guilty with so little evidence? I know they said that they found a bullet. Did they ever talk about the gun? From the charges, it sounds like it was an illegal gun. But I remember them saying that he had a .22 rifle. I don't think you have to register them..
I still don't know what to think. He might be guilty, but I just don't think they proved it in court. Plus there is just too many conflicts and the case was tainted. I'm just shocked some things weren't thrown out. I'm looking forward to hearing a lot more about it..

Yeah I know absolutely nothing about trial law but it seems like the judge did everything he could to stack the deck against Avery.
Why the heck was this trial not moved out of WI or the very least the immediate Manitowoc/Chalmut areas?

Wisconsin prosecutor says he is getting death threats over Netflix documentary
MANITOWOC COUNTY, Wis. -- A prosecutor in Wisconsin says he's getting threats over a Netflix documentary.
The 10-part series "Making a Murderer" suggests the theory that investigators framed Steven Avery for murder.
In 2003, Avery was released from prison after spending 18 years in jail for a crime he did not commit.
Two years later, Avery and his nephew were arrested and convicted of murdering Teresa Halbach.
The documentary follows that case.
It suggests local law enforcement had it out for Avery, mishandled the case and may have planted evidence to frame him.
The special prosecutor says he was never asked for his side of the story and is now getting death threats.
Producers say Ken Kratz was given opportunities to give his side of the story.
Avery and his nephew have lost all state appeals to their life sentences.

I finished this at 3:30 this morning. I just couldnt turn it off. All i have to say is what the frick. How did the judge just allow all of this to happen. To borrow a phrase from another poster, it was surreal. I couldnt believe this was happening in America. I also couldnt believe the defense didnt call the insurance company in to testify that they were not going to pay the 36 million. I feel like this was not hammered home.
