Glad I'm not the only one going wtf Alex is straight?!?!?
I wonder if it is a setup for season 2 with him trying to tell his dad that he is gay because his dad is all man's man type, if he survives the bullet. I don't think he shot himself, I think the stalker douche did it. Either it's for season 2 or they wanted you to really feel why he tried so hard to fit in with the jocks.

Season 2 will probably follow the story line of investigating this and the probably the trial after the tapes have been released as evidence.

Is it sad?
Extremely, it shows all the morbid/bad stuff and doesn't pull away quick. It wants to force it on you without being too much gore or explicit.

Finished it last night, that final episode was incredible.
Glad they're already dropping major hints at a season 2, quite a few cliffhangers.

It is a well done show, but I had a hard time finishing it. Just a little too much high school drama for me to stomach.

Why I have mixed feelings about the cliffhangers is it kinda detracts from the message they were trying to send by changing the original ending. She is still alive in the original ending in the book. They wanted to send a more serious message about suicide and that it is permanent. If they are going to go into school shooters, learning to accept being gay, crazy lawsuits, trying to prosecute rapists, and who knows what else all from one story; you might as well just go full soap opera and do the she lives story too.
I can see this show easily slipping from a great message to nonsense crap with a season 2.

It'll be interesting to see where all they take it for season 2.
Personally I'd just like to see justice on Bryce and the parents getting millions and finding some bit of peace.
Beyond that it's whatever. Maybe have Clay finally move on and find a girl as well as peace too, maybe Sky was the beginning.

Yeah, I agree, those were some good story lines to continue. Trying to bust Bryce alone could pull from that real life football rape case where reddit went after the town. Seems like they tried too hard with all the cliffhangers though.

Haven't read any posts above, for spoiler reasons, but we watched the first two episodes last night. Pretty interesting show. I've personally never seen a movie, or show, with this type of script. Very different. I like it so far.

It's really good so far, but at times it feels like one big long PSA.

Just finished this. That shite was rough. I don't think it needed a second season because that was great story and I don't think they can improve.

you bailed right before it starts getting really dark, the next tape is his and it goes into the heart of why she did it.

Yep. My high school years were more like Dazed And Confused, and Fast Times. These kids on '13 Reasons' were some of the most unredemptive, miserable, depressing teens I've seen in a long time. Was a grind to get through.

I think I feel worse for Jeff and his family than Hannah and hers.

Spoiler
The Jeff crash was the only thing I didn't like about the show. The stop sign Sherry knocked over was at a 3 way stop where her label dead ended. Plus, it was basically in a neighborhood. Anyone coming to that intersection would've stopped anyways. Also, if you go back and look at it, there was a stop sign on Jeff's side to, so he ran a stop sign. It all just didn't seem to add up to me the way they were trying to make it play out.

Jeff was the product of his own doing. He was going on a beer run, he died while trying to supply the kids with more alcohol and endangering far more lives and could of led to more rapes. frick Jeff.

Are there parents out there like there are on the show? Maybe I was just raised differently but it seems like almost all the parents on the show were laissez faire as frick. Understand it's a book/tv show but geez. Mine weren't complete helicopters but 75% of the shite those kids got away with in every day life would have been a no go. There's always a kid with folks that let them get away with shite and have parties but it seemed like most of the parents were pretty absent.
Spoilers....
Felt bad for the guidance counselor. I know he could have done more but his hands were pretty tied with Hannah not elaborating beyond thinking she was raped. I guess he could have gone to her folks but she didn't really give him the time
End spoilers

Not enough downvotes for this. He was a really good guy and that whole part totally shocked the hell out of me. I just didn't see that coming. The whole show was that way. It took on a really tough subject and didn't hold back. I just don't know how I feel about a lot of it, but I'm glad I watched it. I'm recommending it to everybody I know now.
