I guess I'm in the minority here in that I hated Tony and wanted Nat to come back and win. Yes, Tony's edit had him looking like a mastermind. How much of that was contrived we'll never know. He was throwing out so many wild plans and theories that any editor could put it together showing him as a Nostradamus.
I didn't like Tony at the beginning. He grew on me as the season went along and yes, he was crazy as frick. I wouldn't have been upset if Natalie won but they do need to change EoE (if they keep it going forward) to ending at the merge.

I would have been a little upset at Natalie winning... I get that it's part of the game, but she NEVER went to a tribal council where she was at risk, without getting voted out. She got voted out first and had an immunity idol or necklace for the final 3. Credit her for busting her arse and putting herself in that position, but it cheapens the game, I think.
I guess I'm a bigger fan of the Redemption Island sort of twists where the eliminated contestants have to battle it out one on one (or sometimes three playing at once) to stay alive and maybe get back in.
I also was not a big fan at all of the way the EOE people could impact the active game so much.
All of that said, she did what she had to do to get back in the game and then make it to second place. Good for her. I just hope we don't see that play out the same way in the future.

My top Survivor girl has always been Amanda Kimmel
After re-watching Micronesia I have been second guessing my long standing love of Parvati. I do remember really liking Amanda when that season aired, but had somehow forgotten all about her.

Amanda is without a doubt one of the hottest, especially among contestants that were successful.

I don't disagree. The only saving grace for her in my opinion was being a beast while on EoE. That is it. I also believe she did more overall than Michelle but like you said, she was never at risk during the majority of the game.

I agree with this as well.

yeah, she played within the rules of the game. but, the rules suck.
some would argue that she didn't have an advantage. but, i believe not having the stress of possibly being voted out every couple of days is an advantage in itself. being able to spend time with the others on EOE outside of the stress of the game. making friends, forming bonds, getting to know people. and she did not have a hand in voting anyone out, until she returned.

While true, I would also say being on EoE was harder physically.
I agree about the rest.

A few more thoughts on this season.
1. I thought it was extremely cool the way thry did the family visit. These are all past winners. They are all part of the Survivor Pantheon. I'm really glad they brought whole families, even for those on EoE. Class act there.
2. Why didn't the ones on EoE try to improve their shelter and living situation? Did they not have the tools? Were there rules that forbid them from it?
3. On Island of the Idols Rob proved that he was a master shelter builder. Yet this season the beach he was on looked like crap compared to all the stuff Wendell did. Wonder what was up with that?

Guessing he was too busy banging Ambah in the woods to fool with it.

I couldn’t believe that Natalie’s TWIN-IE! TWIN-IE! didn’t show up.

That island must have just not had many raw materials. I don't see how the rules would forbid them from improving the shelter, especially as the numbers grew.

I would agree. They would have made something if the materials were there. They knew they were going to be there awhile.

Man am I the only one upset we don't get another episode tonight.
Yes it had it's flaws but Winners at War goes down as one of the all time great seasons

Yeah, I wish they would have spread the last one out. You are not alone in that feeling.

A legit reunion show, even if done virtually, would have been nice for this season.
Especially since The Amazing Race was pushed back to the Fall.

Yeah, it was too rushed at the end.

Perhaps, but even that brief interview with Tony after he won was clunky and awkward. An hour of that would have gotten old pretty fast. And the logistics and expense of setting up a studio in every players' home would have been impossible.
Perhaps we'll get one at some point, but I doubt it. Kinda got the sense a lot of those players saw this as their closure in the Survivor world. I'm sure they'll stay in touch with each other and with Jeff, but can't see many of them being involved in any way in future seasons.

I actually think most would come back given the opportunity. Other than Ethan, Amber, and probably Sandra... I don't know that anyone else says no, unless it's just a bad timing thing.
ETA: I really doubt we see many of them again though... Survivor has too many other potential returnees to get back involved plus there's usually something fun about an all new cast.

Speaking of, has Cochran come out to say why he was not involved in this season? Surely, the producers would've preferred Cochron over Adam, Sophie, or probably even Michelle (although, she turned out to be very entertaining this season). I assume he turned them down.
I decided to just look it up. This is what I expected was his reasoning.
quote:
However, it seems as if John Cochran has no interest in returning to Survivor. During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Cochran explained, “I feel bad saying this but I don’t think that I would [return]. I don’t think I’d do as well. I’m aware of my limitations. I’m aware that I lucked out a lot this time, that a lot of stars aligned, the timing was perfect, everything was great. And I had such a great time in addition to all that. I really enjoyed it.”
Cochran added, “First of all, I’m not going to do as well, that’s inevitable. I probably won’t have as good of a time, and my last Survivor memory’s going to be losing and not enjoying myself as much. I kind of would like to end on this note, where everything is going to be perfect for me and I’m happy. Doesn’t it seem better to quit while you’re ahead rather than coming back and bungling it?”
