I got a chance to see a free screening of this movie, and I want my money back.
Disjointed mess. No story flow. No character development. Too forced.

appears that Scruffy's incontinence, er inconsistency, is showing in this thread.
A GUIDELINE!!!
Gonna have to pistol whip some people.
And FYI, if you do see me using 3rd person on another board besides the OT, just assume that I'm trolling. That's pretty much the only reason I use it on other boards.

Thanks for the warning! The show I saw the other night on Nat Geo was pretty interesting and made me think I should go see the movie. I'll probably just buy a book on the subject now.

Too much wink wink nudge nudge
Too schmaltzy
Apparently these guys had orders from the POTUS but no support from the army?
The part that pissed me off most was the movie implied that these guys were the first to Berchtesgaden when we saw on Band Of Brothers who really was first to the castle

Please save your money. I'm begging you. I was half asleep during the time I was there.. People were walking out of the theatre on this one. I had to get out of there as well. It was really bad.

The ol lady said she wanted to go see it, pulling the "but look whose in it, it can't suck" card. I told her I think it will be one of those movies with an all star cast that just stinks it up, and looks like I'm right.

Saw it today ~ went in with low expectations because of the critics and this thread. We actually liked it a lot. There weren't as many light moments as you would think ~ I believe they showed them all in the previews.

I heard a pretty scathing review on NPR. He said George speechifies too much, Cate Blanchett's character is cliched and forced. And the movie is full of formulaic cliched elements as well. He did say the cast was good for the most part with some exceptions.

Movie may not be the best, but I'm glad the story is getting out. Many Europeans dismiss the Marshall Plan...the rebuilding of Europe after WWII...as being cynically in America's best interest. As if that is a valid excuse.
The true story of the "Monuments Men" can't be explained away so easily. If not for American efforts in this regard, a great deal of the world's most precious art may have been lost forever.
This story is one of America's finest moments IMO.
