Just one of the worst episodes of any show I've ever seen. It was a fricking insult to the viewers. That episode literally made me angry.

Horrible episode. Horrible idea. I didn't like it not because no one saw it coming, but because it was just plain dumb.

It was emotionally manipulative for no reason. They didn't need to use the 'Ted' device to tell Robin's story. It was a cheap play to do that, and then pull the rug out at the end. Like I said before, the writers basically insulted the viewers with that episode.

I agree. It's like watching a whole movie and when the climax is about to come, the main character wakes up from a dream. It's a cheap trick.

It's a welcomed change from the way things have been since Marshall's dad died

I liked the episode.

Think about it... it's the first time we got to see an actual perspective outside of Ted's. Everything up until this point has been "i wasn't there, but as (insert other character's name) tells it.. this is what happened" Plus it makes the characters more real - not everything works out and Ted doesn't know everything.

It was refreshing, and adds a dynamic that Marshall, Lily, Barney, and Robin are NOT just extras in Ted's story.

Brilliant episode. Just brilliant. And, as a longtime HIMYM watcher, I like how they respect the timeline they've created for however may seasons there's been. We know from the earlier seasons that Robin doesn't have kids, yet they are introduced in this episode. So when the reveal of this happens, it's not that big of a surprise. It fits the narrative.

So, does that mean she ends up with Barney?

Who knows...I think they are saving who Barney marries till season end

But holy crap talk about a depressing episode. After these past few weeks I hope next week is a "happy" episode.

I feel like this season has driven the show into the shitter but they did such a great job hooking me on seasons 1-5 that I can never stop watching. How in the world did the show go from "good things always happening to the characters we love and everyone having a fun time" to "The writers apparently hate the characters and want nothing good to ever happen to them ever again." It feels like all that's happened is painful emotional struggles and bad news. fricking lighten the show up a bit.

Agreed, I don't have high hopes for whats gonna happen once Marshall and Lilly have their kids. I feel like its gonna ruin things. Like someone said earlier, sitcom babies are never good.

They need to go on a run of old type episodes why they still can.

Make some awesome bits for Barney demeaning women, give some outlandish funny project for Marshall, another Robin sparkles or Robin being a canadian heavy episode, and have Ted and Lilly shut up.

Like someone said, getting it from someone else than Ted's perspective (no homo) was refreshing.

Also, for anyone who's watched HIMYM, all they do is create illusions and then the reality is completely different. It happened with Barney walking in to meet Norah's parents and everything being great only to see him stand outside and not go in. It's happened a hundred times with Ted and his ladies. It's literally at the heart of the show.

In May sweeps, Marshall and Lilly will lose the baby in a brilliantly done hilarious episode.
