Linney might be a good actress but her character is so unlikable. Her sweet talk schtick to get what she wants from people who don't know her makes me want to puke.
I have no problem with Jonah. He's 14. His parents are responsible for serious crimes, and they(mainly Wendy) want to just act like its normal. Jonah is smart enough to know that shite isn't normal, so he calls that bitch out on it.

I realize the finale was supposed to be her Oscar moment, but good grief, I just dont feel sorry for her or her trash family. They weren't good people, ever.
That whole thing was only going to end one way and she was too fricking trashy and stupid to see it coming. She could have been written so much better this season. They somehow made her pastier and less attracive too

Someone else has already mentioned it, but it's still kinda crazy that after the Byrds moved to the ozarks and started raising hell, you've got:
-Cartel boss Del and all his people
-The Snells and their people
-Teh Kansas City Mob and their people
-The Langmores
-The Navarro cartel boss plus his lawyer and hired guns
All essentially involed in the same kind of business all with different interests, all wtih the Byrds heavily invovled...yet they have still lived all the way up to now ha. In reality at least 1 and likely sevefal of the byrds would have been killed like 3 years ago

Favi is so similar to the better call character that I thought the entire time until reading this thread that it was the same character.

You don't know shite about frick. She is a redneck, living in a camper. Did you really think she was going to be a Brainiac?

Jonah is frustrating, Wendy is aggressive and Marty never sits down to talk through everything with him. Bad parenting overall. Besides the whole drag my family into a cartel thing ha. Just something that could have been solved pretty easily which leads me to think they are setting something up with that.
Spoiler: like another poster stated I want to know what Charlotte did when she ran to Ruth’s truck, maybe she just checked on the baby. Just a weird part.

First off it's a Netflix show but I'll take shot a it? From my viewing
Marty & Partner launders money for cartel, partner is "cooking the books", #5 sends #1 to find the rat. Marty says all the bullshite about Ozarks and he lives. eventually #2 crazy arse took out #1 (which by the way in 4 seasons was the most WTF moment of the show, for me)
#2 has been selling "poppy" on a small scale for long time and staying in their lane so to speak with the "authorities on board" until Marty shows up. #3 dabbles in all kinda illegal acts but they keep a low profile hidden behind trucking company,(the show also needed them as an willing partner, but I never bought into the "KC MOB" to be much of anything but show filler). #4 everyday trash, you can find it in most small cities/towns across America. #5 Navarro fell for Wendys bullshite, and the lawyer was well, the lawyer. Navarro had better chance to furthering his game with the Byrds than Lawyer otherwise end of season 3 we woulda had 2 bullets.

No, I literally stated I just dont care about her at all. Hated her scenes the longer the season went.

The whole FBI angle this season seemed absurd actually.
More absurd than the agents/partners that were also gay lovers in season 1? I gave this show a full season, but the writing is terrible. Really surprised at how popular it's been.

Finished the episodes yesterday, and caught up with the thread just now. Man, there is a lot more hate for this show than I thought there would be. But I get there are different hate-able things in it though.
I really enjoyed this season. Here are my thoughts to catch up with the thread:
WAY too much Ruth for me this season. I like the character and the actress, but man it was way too Ruth-heavy.
Javi comes out of nowhere and acts with impunity. There is zero chance that dude wouldn't be either killed by the cartel or caught by law enforcement. Like someone said, that place is crawling with FBI agents, and this dude comes and goes and leaves a trail of bodies in his wake, and nothing ever happens?
I think that's one of the biggest things that bother me about the show, the believability/plausibility of it all.
Jonah fricking sucks. Sure, he comes from shite parents, but he sucks and seemed like he was trying to intentionally get his family killed all season long. frick him. And his pretend grief over an uncle that he barely even knew was pushed WAAAAAY too far the entire half season.
Wendy sucks too. Linny is great, but man that chick is a fricking sociopathic psycho. Navarro definitely sees a lot of himself in her. Her loud capping Darlene and causing a heart attack was awesome.
Darlene still sucks arse, and I am glad she finally got killed. In reality, she would've been killed very shortly after she offed her husband. She loves to talk and act all tough and is like "COME AND GET ME!!" but literally all she has for protection is one single shotgun (that she holds incorrectly every time
) and a 90 pound pool noodle frickboy with ridiculous hair.
The time jumps confused me a bit. Were those jumping to a time before the show ever started? That's what it seemed like, but I don't remember much about S1 so I was a bit confused.
The whole big pharma plot was so rushed and hard to buy into. Another one of my problems with the show is that no matter how big the problem is, it's handled with a ten minute conversation with Marty/Wendy. They can literally talk their way into/out of anything, whether it's not being murdered by a ruthless cartel psycho, politically swaying a US Senator, closing on a $150 million deal with big pharma, etc. Literally nothing exists that they can't make happen with a simple phone call or meeting. That's a little annoying since it's so unrealistic.
One thing that annoys me about Bateman is that I like him as an actor so much I seem to root for him even when his character is despicable.
Like I'm good with him and Charlotte being the only main characters who make it through the finale alive at this point (and Charlotte mainly because she seems like the most grounded and normal one....and holy shite does she have a mannish face).
The FBI shouldn't even have been in this season. They did nothing and the whole plotlines with them were confusing and stupid (so just like the real FBI I guess?). They spent an awfully long time setting up this deal with Agent Miller, only to have her crawfish and do her own thing anyway? That was SO out of character for her; it made no sense. Then they go through all the hoops with Navarro and have him handed to them on a silver platter, along with the inner workings of one of the biggest drug cartels in the world...and they want to give him freedom in exchange for five years of service to the FBI? It just felt like they fricked up left and right nonstop. "We don't work with murderers and drug dealers" or whatever....really? You sure seemed to want to do it for five fricking years. That whole plot just felt stupid in the end, when it was one of the biggest drivers of the show last season and this one.
I thought bringing back the KC Mob was sort of empty. Sure, Frank Jr. is a coward, but Darlene literally shot his dick off and then killed his father. And he lets a 30 second conversation with Ruth talk him down from retaliation? Get the frick out of here. And Frank Sr. seemed to literally only be brought back to be killed by Darlene. He served no other purpose it seems like.
All in all, despite this show's shortcomings, I really, really like it and enjoyed this Half-season a lot. I'm interested to see what happens and how they wrap things up, especially since they seemed to tie up a lot of loose ends. I really hope the next half-season has more Navarro and less Javi though.

Speaking of Frank Sr, how the hell did he not know that crazy arse Darlene was going to get a gun out of the closet when he surprised her at her house? Guy has been leading the damn mob for decades and he can't see that coming?
Posted on 2/8/22 at 10:44 am to metallica81788
Right, that's sort of what I mean. Not only was it stupid of him to go there, alone, but at this point he has to know that this woman is batshit insane. So for him to just sit there and berate her like that, then he sees her lean into a room and clearly reach for something, then he gets shot. It was just an all-around stupid move.
That's why I said it seems like the whole KC Mob angle was borderline useless...Franks Sr. and Jr. only seemed to serve the sole purpose of being fodder for Darlene's shotgun.

Probably every single person that watched that scene knew exactly what was about to unfold when she went into the room, yet the head of the KC mob doesn't know what was happening.
That and the truck bomb were frustratingly obvious.

Jonah was the absolute fricking worst this season. Totally unbearable and ridiculous.
Javi was also a stupid, shitty character totally manufactured for tension.
Otherwise I still love this show. Looking forward to the end.

Ben was going to get the entire family killed by telling everyone what was going on. Wendy consulted with their lawyer before calling in Jonah so she knew because he was a minor he would likely never see the inside of a prison and his record would be expunged when he turned 18.
Every move Wendy made in those two situations was calculated and was in the best interest of the family’s safety.
this was a retarded play for multiple reasons....
if the kid is this laundering wunderkind, don't you think maybe that could bring unwanted attention to the family?

yeah Darlene's surprise blowing people away with a shotgun got old...she should have died long ago.
Also Javi is quick to pull the trigger on basically everyone....you know except Marty the guy that he thinks set Navarro up. Nope I'm going to give you some time to explain yourself a bit.

I actually expected Javi to get wise to Navarro and kill him just before completion of his deal
