I watched this movie last night. I thought maybe this movie got panned because of Left Wing bias, but nope, it is objectively terrible. Not one redeeming factor. It is awful.

With Dennis Quaid? Thought he was generally a fan of The Gipper.

It was a 2 and half hour segment basically praising Regan, so if you liked Regan you’d like the movie if you didn’t or were expecting to the movie to use its long arse run time to detail the AIDS epidemic, or crack epidemic, or any other problems Regan faced you ain’t getting it. Instead it’s just how how Regan supposedly defeated Communism. There’s a reason why basically all showings had an average age of 55

The bad accent.

The bad deaging.

The absolute glazing of Reagan.

There's no conflict. There's no arc.

Reagan is God's gift the Western Civilization as told by Jon Voigt's bad Russian accent.

It's fricking awful.

Many Poles would genuinely have no problem with this at all.

Spoken as if you didn't live through the time, or were completely oblivious.

Downvoted for completely missing the plot of King Lear.

I'm in my Mid 40s. How much am I supposed to remember? You're not doing much to disprove that the average age of the audience is 55+.

The audience is those who lived through it and know first hand, but also everyone else.

What you're missing, with respect to the comment about Poland, is the historical significance of Pope JP II, Lech Walesa, the fall of Communism. and Reagan's support in seeing that all happen during his time in office.

I'd not be surprised that most US public schools skimmed over all that, because of the usual reasons.

For frick's sake, no one -- especially me -- is saying Reagan wasn't a great and impactful president. I SAID THE MOVIE SUCKED! The movie does SUCK!

Regarding this thread? Nothing. Your reading skills are shite.

I made zero commentary about how good the movie was. All I said, early on in the thread, was that I'd be surprised it wasn't better as I thought DQ was a genuine fan of Reagan.

Which may be true. Movie could still suck, regardless.

But that's not remotely my point.
