Sure did. Glad he was around for it all the same.

Wow, we just watched that new one for the second time last night. I actually googled during the movie to see how old he was because he appeared to be well into his 80s and I was surprised he was only 76. Eddie however is proof that black don't crack.
We really like the new one though. Not the best movie ever, but enjoyable as a sequel.

And off-topic (RIP John Ashton) - I’ve always wondered what a Six Degrees to Joe Pantoliano would look like. Midnight Run, Eddie and The Cruisers, Sopranos, The Matrix, and on and on.

For "Six Degrees" purposes, Risky Business (mainly to Cruise) and The Goonies would make him competitive, alone. Deserves its own thread, but Joey Pants and Stephen Root would make a great comparison/contrast.

The Beverly hills cops were before my time.. so my introduction to him was Little Big league and its an all time rewatchable movie for me
the Runaround Sue montage is great.

Always played an "Everyman" character. Did a ton of TV. Almost worked exclusively on TV in the 70's. Kojak, Emergency, Columbo, Phyllis, Police Story, Barnaby Jones, Police Woman Wonder Woman, MASH, Starsky and Hutch, Carter Country, Dallas & more.
Payed a cop in quite a few shows. Was an MP in MASH. Shows an uncredited role as a Police Officer in Oh, God! (1977), so the TV started helping. He was Dennis Quaid's brother in Breaking Away (1979). Was a Highway Patrolman in The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984). Then Taggart in Beverly Hills Cop the same year.
Was still doing TV and playing a cop in Gone Baby Gone (2007), on through to being Chief John Taggart in the last Beverly Hills Cop movie this year. God bless that hard working man.

Old school working actor. Once of those guys that was in everything, but no one every knew their name.

Damn. Loved that guy. Checked in on him a few months back because I thought he had already passed away. Was reassured to see he was still alive then.
He had a really nice comedic-tender turn in Some Kind of Wonderful, my favorite role of his.
