Was excellent as the dimwit lawyer in Body Heat

great actor. He was in all the boomer movies, but I think I liked Children of a Lesser God the best. Accidental tourist was also good. It was a great few years for him back then.

My favorite movie is Children of a Lesser God.

Is that the guy from Lost in Space?
Yes, he played Professor Robinson.

Is Marvel going to recast Thaddeus Ross or replace him with Adrian Pasdar's Glenn Talbot (even though he was killed in Agents of SHIELD)?

Loved him in Mr Brooks
Yep, the antagonistic alter-ego for Kevin Costner.
He was funny in his little screen time with Keanu Reeves in
"Love You To Death" playing stoner cousins Harlan and Marlon. And his quirky part in "The Village" that was such a waste of a great cast.

An oddly underappreciated run as time passed.
Early Years:
Altered States
Body Heat
Eyewitness
Gorky Park
The Big Chill
Kiss of the Spider Woman
Children of a Lesser God
Broadcast News
The Accidental Tourist
Later Career:
AI
A History of Violence
Syriana
The Good Shepherd
Mr Brooks
IMO his career faded in the 90s but it didn't seem to be a loss of ability. When I saw his later work it was always solid. Perhaps he had a hard time landing parts as he aged and lost hair? He was converted into a more supporting typecast in the last 20 years

He went from leading man to character actor. And really he thrived from there on out. He had like a three to nearly four year battle with prostrate cancer there. May he RIP!

Awe man that sucks. He didn’t look good during Condor but he was still excellent.

A little known foreign film that he played the lead in was a French/British/Argentine version of The Plague by Albert Camus. Made in the early ‘90s with Robert Duval and Raul Julia in the cast. Excellent actor. Nailed the role of the dumb, obsessed south Florida lawyer in Body Heat.

The family that Lawrence Kasdan put together as Hurt's character, Macon Leary's, in The Accidental Tourist, is one I'd love to see made into a prequel series.
Amy Wright as Rose Leary, David Ogden Stiers as Porter Leary, and Ed Begley Jr. as Charles Leary.
The Accidental Tourist - Trailers From Hell
Geena Davis' Muriel Pritchett character is the perfect, nearly kookier extrovert, to change them all for the better.
Haven't seen it since it was playing on cable in the early 90's. It's on Prime for $2.99. I may watch it today.

Sister Rose (Amy Wright) is an obsessive who derives pleasure from absurd over-organization; brothers Porter (David Ogden Stiers) and Charles (Ed Begley Jr.) are becoming functional zombies, living comatose lives where nothing changes and one’s most important task is to see that nothing ever does. When they decide the phone is a bother, they stop answering it. Macon’s new girlfriend Muriel and Rose’s new suitor Julian (Bill Pullman) are treated as intruders, unknown factors that might disturb the status quo.

quote:His Harlan character in I Love You to Death (1990) was another good idiot role from him. He and Keanu Reeves' Marion character were a great duo for River Phoenix's Devo character to call for that job.
