I don't understand how that benefits the MCU beyond those two movies.
The MCU is floundering and looking for anything they can to get people back on board. Turning to the biggest star the series has had to try to draw a big number is exactly what a hollywood exec would do.

For sure. I understand the motivation for bringing back RDJ. That's not my issue though.
As long as they don't hamstring Doom to two movies only, I'm good.

Hell of a week to make that statement.

Are you under the impression that one week of success makes up for four years of failure?
Books don’t balance like that.
And bringing back RDJ reeks of desperation.

Hilarious. Wish i could give you more than one upvote. So Disney decided to go with a gimmick (RDJ goes from Iron Man to Doctor Doom) stacked on another gimmick (the multiverse allows them to do whatever they like pretty much with no ramifications on the characters choices) instead of trying to write a great movie. Makes sense.

How does this make sense?
I pulled this from the Marvel Wiki. Would be cool if they adapted this:
quote:
During college Victor von Doom tricks Tony Stark into an experiment where his mind is transferred to Tony's body while Tony's mind is transferred to Doom's body with his memory erased.
Tony Stark becomes Dr. Doom (kind of)

Deadpool/Wolverine was a hit but we already knew it was going to be because:
- Deadpool is a very popular character and first two movies did well during their box office runs.
- Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is like the most popular and iconic character in Marvel movies, maybe even comic book movies as a whole.
- The movie was filled with nostalgia and fan service, so positive word of mouth and a promise of a good time at the theater.
So that's all great but in the grand scheme of things it doesn't answer any of the concerns that fans have of Marvel. We know Disney knows how to make money. The problem is the direction of the MCU and while some people are excited to see RDJ back, just to basically have him cameo as a character for two movies is uninspiring, disappointing tot he character, and desperate of the studio to make a splash in the headlines. When MCU can't rely on the multiverse and actually has to write good stories and fans get tired of nostalgia bait, they're going to be in trouble.

No, but you clearly don’t know what you are talking about if you believe they’ve only had failure the last 4 years so

No but saying the MCU is floundering isn’t a much better statement. It’s definitely had its problems but the MCU just showed it can get the GA hyped when it needs to

The problem is the main hero they are trying to push right now is Anthony Mackie and he ain't it. If they killed him off soon it might ignite the MCU Game of Thrones style. They need a new front man.

Huh? Mackie is great.

MCU has a lot of issues but Mackie ain't one of them.
One of their biggest issues was losing Chadwick and not recasting him and then relying on Dr Strange and Captain Marvel. Cumberbatch is great but audiences have NOT bought into Larson as Captain Marvel or Kamala Khan as hard as they have tried. They dumped entirely too many resources into the TV series angle and it's almost single handedly killed interest in the universe.
Most of the movies outside of Spider-Man have been meh (likely because Feige has been stretched too thin to reel in directors to make sure the quality is there while dealing with the TV series bullshite.) Shang Chi was great until the third act and it almost killed the movie. Wakanda Forever was just too goddamn depressing, though Namor was cool. Guardians was ok but that was the last we will see of them. supposedly. Dr Strange was fine but was also kind of disappointing. The Marvels...we dont even need to discuss. Ant man was probably the one movie they HAD to get right and it was bad. Thor Love and Thunder almost felt like a parody of Ragnarok. It was way too silly.
Deadpool was a return to form but they really, really need the new Captain America and Fantastic 4 to hit. At this point, their best course of action is probably to reset almost everything after Secret Wars and take a break then recast a vast majority of the heroes.

Mackie as Captain America is not going to hit. They are just tossing away the entire Steve Rogers backstory?
Fantastic 4 has failed three times in a row and we are supposed to believe some guy who directs tv and Disney are going to get it right?

Most of the cast they filled the roles are some pretty damn impressive actors. And the director created some pretty impressive television episodes. There's a clear path to it being good.

What the frick are you talking about? Cap had three individual movies and four Avengers films. His story is done for now.

I feel like Kamala can definitely work with characters like Spider Man or the other ones her age. The first few episodes of Ms Marvel were good to great but they kinda dropped the ball at the end

That's kind of fricked up, with Bozeman being dead at a young age and all. Funnier if they did it over a living actor.
