They were very careful not to show why or how that’s happening, though, simply giving us a taste of the combat and the scale of the mayhem.
Iron Man better be careful not to have any collateral damage.
I always found it interesting how MOS gets blasted by posters on here for all the damage he allowed to happen. Yet, those same posters praise the avengers and don't seem to care that the avengers had a shite ton of destruction as well. Apparently it's no biggie to destroy an entire city in the Avengers world, but god forbid that happens in a superman film

When you are fighting god like beings to stop the TOTAL DESTRUCTION of the planet, collateral damage is going to happen.
This is the weakest argument the MOS haters toss out. Given the powers involved, I thought the damage was more realistic than any comic book to date.
Once again, they weren't fighting over an armored car. Zod was converting Earth to Krypton II which would have killed off most of if not all of the humans. Any amount of damage is justified to stop the plan.

Wat?
So RDJ 's portrayel of Stark had nothing to do with the success of Ironman? You have to admit they have cast these movies fairly well even beyond him as well.
quote:
How old do you think he is? He's the same age as Iron Man.
And how many rumors are there that Downey will only be around for 1 or 2 more movies? Or that he dies in AofU?

Who said it's a similar storyline?
I'm not sure how many times it has been pointed out in this thread that this whole thing is based off of TDKR. They have him in the powered armor armor and superman above him just menacing at one another.
Damnit I'm becoming Freauxzen.

quote:I didn't see anyone say it's going to be based solely on TDKR. The armor and some concepts are. There is no Joker and there's WW. How can that be based solely on TDKR? Snyder has said that only some concepts are being taken from it. His Batman is younger than that one. In TDKR, Batman is like 60.

Eta: Correction, he's 55.

Marvel showed
Stop. This isn't Marvel were talking about so stop trying to weigh one against the other. Because you keep doing that, then I'm going to tell you that RDj was 43 when Iron Man came out. The same age as Affleck will be when DoJ comes out. I will also add that Renner, and Ruffalo are both older than Affleck. Renner being 43 and Ruffalo 46.

Right actor, right role, get people hooked and you are golden.
You're right when you are talking about everyone on The Avengers except Captain America who were third tier characters. Which is what they were before these films came out. Before then the leaders of the Marvel Universe in terms of popularity, were the X-Men, Spider-man, probably Fantastic Four, who have rightly traded places with the Avengers as far as popularity goes.

those rumors have nothing to do with RDJ's age. its because RDJ himself said hes getting tired of playing Iron Man. It will have been 7 years as one character and 5 movies thus far.
Affleck has literally just started his portrayal.

Look, Marvel showed that for these movies to succeed, while characters are important, it is actor driven.
There are successful movies other than Marvel. There are successful superhero movies other than Marvel.

Name that movie:
Other worldly antagonist comes to earth, and uses a protagonist ally to betray the team. The protagonist team is then on a ship that is damaged and causes the audience to think that hope is lost. A human is then recruited to help use an other worldly device to open a portal to another world in a major city.

Not only that, but most of the actual damage in MoS was caused by the world engines, not the battle.
Yea, they had some destruction with the battle, but every iteration of a Superman causes destruction when he fights. Every cartoon has had Superman punch guys through buildings or make craters in the ground. It is what happens with super strength fights.
I watched the movie last night, and only one building was destroyed by the actual fight, and that was when Zod first gets his heat vision.
Besides that, 99% of the damage was due to the world engines.

There is literally no chance they use the plot of TDKR. Aside from the idea of an aged, nearly infirm and useless Batman recruiting a small army to do his dirty work, the plot will not hinge on nuclear holocaust and Superman being a government stooge. I'm going out on a limb here, but "old Batman" and "Batman and Superman fight" is hardly the plot of TDKR. It's not going to be based on TDKR, as that storyline is way too dark, and audiences will not stand for that Batman.

FYI: Affleck is younger now than RDJ was when he started portraying Iron Man.

They teased the movie this year by showing a clip that could have come straight out of The Dark Knight Returns.
While they will not be using the exact plot of The Dark Knight Returns as the plot for this movie, they are trying their best to use as much of TDKR as they possibly can to promote it.
That leads me to believe that they will ape the tone of that comic book series as much as they can.
