I would like to remind everyone that it is just a movie.

If a movie makes you this upset, then some of you have some bigger issues going on.

Because I'm tired of oprah and people like that shoving this shite down our throat

It has a 100% on RT because critics are scared to be called racist if they rip it. Sharpton and jesse Jackson and the race baiters will be all over them

Oprah is the biggest racist since Jamie Foxx

This. Just all of this

So in other words, you're uneducated trailer trash.

Stop trying to disguise it. You're a bigoted piece of crap.

I am a White Southerner and I really liked it. It paints the White South in a pretty terrible light, but things were pretty terrible back then and the story needs to be told.

Should we ignore the fact that blacks stirred up a ton of trouble as well? Why is it always "evil whitey" and "poor innocent blacks"?

Yeah, how dare those blacks fight for their right to vote and receive education. They should have stayed on the plantation..go frick yourself pussy. You all are fricking despicable.

So history should be based off your anecdotal experience?

So, Hollywood makes a WWII movie with hard and a emotional storylines... Everyone is like "man, that was a strong emotional movie. Well done."

Hollywood makes a Vietnam war movie showing American soldiers shooting kids and women "just because war is hell" and everyone is like "yeah, that was tough to watch but the story needed to be told."

Hollywood makes a movie about a U.S. sniper that was bad arse and even shot a kid... Everyone is like "OMG, great movie."

Hollywood makes a black comedy with a famous line "you got the frick knocked out" and ppl quote it for years to come.

Hollywood makes a very balanced civil rights movie and people are like "frick that white guilt shite".

It's sad that people get so defensive when a historical civil rights movie is released. There is a lot about our history that people prefer to ignore. You can watch it, learn from it, without needing to feel guilt.

Fact is, separate but equal happened. Blacks were regularly murdered, lynched, or put in jail simply for being black in a very racist society.

No need to feel guilty about the history during this time anymore than you should feel guilty for the Lizzy Borden trials, the eradication of Native Americans, or the dropping of the two A bombs on Japan.

Historical movies are not about guilt... They are about exposing stories of the past to groups of people who would rarely think about those things.

Guilt isn't necessary.

It's amazing it's the year 2015 and people still hate each other because the color of their skin. It is really ignorant and shortsighted.

WTF does this mean? We shouldn't tell any story about the past because it might stir shite up? So don't show WW2 movies because it might stir the Germans up; don't tell stories about Ceasar bc it might stir up some emotions from Roman ancestors? Don't show the interview because it might stir up some N. Koreans? Can you tell me what kind of movies you would allow to be shown that won't bother anyone.....or does it only matter to you if it is on a black/white level? If what happened 50 years ago bothers you today.....you have bigger problems.

And changing the story so that even the white people who did help in real life are made to look like the enemy serves no purpose than to be racially divisive. The makers of this film will never get a dime of my money.

If the Germans and Romans were pulling a Ferguson every other year then you'd have a point. But to act like this movie does nothing but convince whites and blacks to come together in harmony is foolish.
I don't have a problem with the movie. But let's not make silly comparisons.

Problem is, just one time is too many times for too many people. We can watch and be entertained by a German getting his head bashed in, a la Inglorious Bastards... I mean, that's good stuff, right?

But show one movie about how a nation brutalized an entire race simply because they wanted to maintain their dominance and it's "no one needs to see this biased shite."

So stupid.

Let's not learn any history because it might stir shite up.

Wow.
