The original was great, sequel not so much

The first one is awesome. The panel vs screen comparisons are cool; Rodriguez nailed it:

Man the first one was so good. I wish they would do a Batman movie in a similar style.

Didnt even know there was a sequel. Accidently bought it thinking it was the original. Couldn't even watch the whole thing i was so annoyed. Maybe I'll give it another try one day, but i doubt I will like it if they remix old stories as it appeared to do.

First one is great!
Sequel sucks which is what killed the franchise. The sequel is “up there” with The Spirit which was a blatant rip-off of the style of the original.

To be fair Robert Rodriguez hogged the best of the books (Vol. I, III, and IV). Looking back, I wish he had made three movies: Marv, Dwight, and Hartigan each getting their own but there just wasn't that much to graphic novels. The Batman idea mentioned above is brilliant. What a great joker we could have.

I feel like every Batman director talks about Dark Knight Returns as their inspiration. Just give me a live action DKR in this style. You could make it brutal like it would need to be, but still keep it PG-13 by taking advantage of the unique film style.

The original Sin City is arguably my favorite comic book movie ever and while A Dame to Kill For is not nearly as good, it's definitely not on The Spirits level. The Spirit is an all time bad movie. ADTKF was still a good, fun movie, it just had a lot of expectations to live up to the first one.
I remember when the ADTKF trailer came out that that was probably the best movie trailer I'd ever seen.

Carla Gugino cans also looked great in black and white in the original. It's the type of movie that needs some nudity.

Her poster for the movie was one of the reasons I checked the movie out. I don't know if we're even allowed to post it on here.

I will always love Sin City but not nearly as much as innocent little Nancy Callahan

That's not a woman you marry but one you make a lot of bad decisions with over a weekend.
