I put that right up there with Dark. Newhart was great for a comedy, Dark was great for a sci-fi drama.

That's an odd list you have there.

The two best series finales that I've witnessed were:

Cheers
Justified

Tried to think of a few different genres. All some of my all time favorite shows though. Not enough people have watched The Leftovers, Black Sails, Vice Principles, and The Newsroom.

Is there any way possible for The Simpsons to end up on this list?

I thought Leftovers was pretentious trash from beginning to end, but I applaud you finding shows not normally talked about in the best finale conversation. While an odd list, it’s well put together.

Everything ended on a pretty good note. Just hate how they turned Steve into a Mr. Mom weirdo

Homer wakes up from the coma he's been in since Bart's exploding soda prank in season 4. Everything since then has been one long fever dream. He even comments that things just kept going and going and they never got any older and he couldn't understand why.

In my not so humble opinion Scrubs had the best series finale. And then there was the Scrubs spin-off that kind of ruined it.

IMO, a bad series finale is inexcusable. Writers/Producers should have a good idea of how the series will end several seasons (at least) before so they can write accordingly, which is why HIMYM was so disappointing. It's like they scrapped the better endings for something an amateur would write.

Six Feet Under was a decent show, but the last few minutes were captivating, brilliant, hauntingly beautiful. I was really in awe which rarely happens.

The Americans, Justified, BB were close to perfect.

I loved The West Wing but they kinda jumped the shark with Leo getting on the ticket as VP.

The ending was apropos given Alda"S writing/directing...direction of the show the last year but it was a chore to sit through and too heavy-handed even for war. Goodbye, Farwell and Amen almost feels like a different show...it's basically it's own movie.
