So how the hell did Nancy, Will's brother, and Steve Harrington all get promoted to main characters?
Three of the 4 original main character kids did ABSOLUTELY NOTHING this whole season.
All the kids besides Dustin and 11 were completely useless.
I liked season 3 much better than 2 regardless.

They were always main characters.

Depends on how you define it. They were always more than just minor side characters for sure, but I would describe them as supporting major characters. The roles were very reversed this season. Outside of Dustin the 3 boys of the core group were basically ancillary characters to everything big happening.

Only useful character this season was Dave and that’s it’s. Everybody else just wasted 8 episodes on shite doing anything they can to hype up a season 4

Yea that’s not accurate at all but okay bro

The whole season blowed to me. Not because the ideas were bad, but the characters were acting dumb for like no reason. They intentionally made all the guys dumbasses and made all the women entitled bitches. But we already know that was all about this woman on set who claimed the Duffer Bros were being "sexist" so you had to make all the men look like Betas. Just...ugh. This feminism shite is getting out of control. They had to ruin a season to save their reputation, so I guess I can't be completely mad at them.

You have a point. It’s both a blessing and a curse that the cast list has expanded like it has. It’s brought us some cool new characters but it’s taken away from a lot. It really felt like the only main players were Nancy, Joyce, Dustin/Steve, Hopper and El. And while I’m a big fan of all those characters, it would have been nice to see some of the others shine a little more. Jonathan, Lucas, Mike or Will didn’t do anything significant this season other than take a backseat
Now that El’s powers are gone and can’t bail them out, I’d like to see them dip back into Season 1 a little where the kids are a little smarter, they do some investigating on their own and are generally more worried about what’s going on than getting make out sessions. I still thoroughly enjoyed the season but a few characters got the spotlight this season and I hope others get it next season, specifically Mike, Lucas, Jonathan, Will. And use new groups.
Let the new groups be something like:
Jonathan, Nancy, Steve, Robin
The kids, including El, minus Erica. You could even split them into smaller groups kind of like Season 2 did. Dustin, Lucas, Max as one group. Will, Mike and El as the other and they interact with each other sometimes. In fact. It wouldn’t be a bad idea to have it just be Dustin, Lucas, Mike and Will again and let Max and El, who were great on screen together, to be a new group. Lucas and Mike and Will need some of that character development that other characters got this season, development without their girlfriends
Joyce and Murray could be the last group and maybe the Doctor from Season 2 that showed back up at the end of Season 3 after the Russians bailed. I don’t think he came back just for a cameo. I bet he plays a significant part in bringing Hopper back if he’s still alive

Perhaps this was obvious but what was the ultimate goal of the Russians in opening the gate?
I don’t think it was obvious at all. I think we will find out more in Season 4. They wanted a demogorgon obviously but for what reason? I don’t think we’ve seen the last of the Russians.

to see which country can “figure out” the upside down first. (Kinda like the race to space)
At this point we don't know what they'd want to do and perhaps they don't know either.

t made sense. Gay people exist, it also makes sense that a character would be gay. They didn’t go on some long tangent about how oppressed gay people are - that would be an unnecessarily shoehorned in agenda. She said she was gay, Steve nodded his head. They moved on. Nothing else. It was just a vehicle to end any thought of a romantic dynamic between Steve and her character and set them up going forward as two friends without any love interest. Had they not made her gay, you couldn’t have their dynamic of just a platonic relationship between the two without everyone thinking they would end up together.
You're delusional if you think it came about organically

Yea I’m hoping we find that out.

Apparently the mall location they filmed at had a murder in the food court years ago.

Well it's not like it's in a good part of town

Some serious downvoting in here for differing opinions. Pretty pathetic.
Wasn’t a terrible season but season 1 still ranks as the best of them all to me. Netflix struck gold with the first season.
I am also under the impression Hopper ain’t gone for good.

I hope they make two more seasons. One set in 87 and the other in 89. Maybe have the last episode be New Years Eve 89 to end the show as the decade ends.

I agree. That is delusional. There was nothing natural about that transition. Seems like they just made her gay like they made Ellie gay in the Last of Us just so the Joel and Ellie relationship couldn't happen later down the road.
I personally don't care if they just stayed friends. It was already patronizing enough to have to sit through the season watching all the men get their sacs chopped off by crazy, delusional, self-centered women. They just had to go and immaculate Steve because he's a boss.
