It landed, but it was more OK to good than fantastic.
I would have liked a little more adversity in the final battle with Vecna and less epilogue, but they did a fine enough job wrapping things up.
If by some chance this conformity gate theory is true and we do get another episode, I'd welcome it, but I'm not expecting anything.

I thought the epilogue was perfect like in Return of the king.
my only gripe I had was I wish the Vecna fight would have been longer.

what didn't they like about the finale? Everyone I spoke to in real life outside the internet said the finale landed.
Everyone I know hated game of thrones finale and the final season. That's not even close the case with stranger things. More people watched stranger things than GOT though.
Comparing game of thrones final season to Stranger Things is like comparing Breaking Bad/BCS to Pluribus. Doesn't make any sense.

I liked the show in general, and I’d put S1 against just about anything as far as quality, but the final season and the finale were more whimper than bang for me. Glad you liked it, guy.

they didn't put that scene in because it wasn't important. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean it was a plot hole. My answer and their answer was both fine. Just because you thought something should have happened during that scene doesn't make it bad.
