Those are all pretty stupid, but I still don't have any context of what they actually are. Just "scary" youtube type content?
You referenced video games in your other post, which is why I was confused. And you said your like 7 year old kid was into this shite? That seems fairly intense for a kid that young.
I watched about half of the backrooms videos today on youtube, and they are fairly well done and interesting. I am definitely interested to see what a movie about them would mean.

The “Backrooms” as a concept originated from a random anonymous user post on 4chan. A lot of people found the concept of an infinite liminal space with a looming unknown entity potentially stalking you interesting and scary. The YouTuber Kane Pixels made the best adaptations of the concept and they got popular enough to draw the attention of movie producers it seems.

I stumbled upon SCP like 5-6 years ago and went down the rabbit hole. Spent multiple hours reading and there was definitely some creative shite there that has stuck with me.
Was amazed at the world building and depth that writers have gone and I hadn’t hear anything about it thru my late 20’s.

I finished watching the rest of Kane's Backroom videos today, and they are VERY well done. It's pretty incredible how realistic they feel (for the most part anyway...there are some parts that just feel and look obviously fake). But it's impressive though.
I am currently watching through some of his other videos that he used with his video software (Blender). The one I am watching right now is about some dude who finds a hole in the ground in the middle of absolute nowhere, and inside the hole there is about a mile of stairs that lead way underground into what looks like an 80s shopping mall. So I'm gonna keep poking around his videos to check out, and the concept is definitely interesting to me. And it definitely does have my hyped about a movie about it all. I just hope A24 doesn't frick it up like they are known to do at times.

You mean by fumbling the 3rd act and just ending things with a pagan ritual?

There is a newer litrpg series out called Discount Dan's Backroom Bargains. These clips remind me of these books.
quote:
All Dan wants is to find a way home. He'd settle for a beer, a bite to eat, and a place to sleep off his hangover.
But, in an endless, ever-changing dungeon cobbled together from twisted carnivals, abandoned shopping malls, janky laundromats, and condemned insane asylums, getting a bit of shut-eye is harder than it sounds.
Dan has accidentally "Noclipped" into the Backrooms—a bizarro, extra-dimensional Alice-in-Wonderland world, overrun with horrific nightmare creatures known as the Dwellers. No one ever gets out. Hell, forget about leaving, if Dan wants to survive the week, he's going to need to harness the strange game-like magic of the Backrooms, make some very sketchy allies, and carve out a little safe haven to call his own.
And he's going to need to do it fast because Dan is being hunted. The Flayed Monarch of the 999th floor has marked him for death and no one walks away from the Skinless Court with their hide intact...
