Did they even have the sirens in the movie as the trailer suggested? I can't remember.

Haha yeah, not paying attention on that. But either way, the point stands that this forum is full of pointless debate and theories.
Don't forget pictures of feet.

1. Don't think Vickers is a robot. She probably would not be so concerned with escaping if she were.
2. Shouldn't all the dudes have huge beards after not shaving for 2 years. And fingernails.
3. At the end she is going to the Engineers planet. Taking a ship full of black goo canisters. Does she plan on destroying them? Probably.
4. Scott could've just called this an "Alien" prequel. That's what it is.
5. Here's a possibility. The dude at the beggining started life on Earth without permission by sacraficing himself. That's why they want to end life on Earth. Because they never meant for it to exist in the first place. Hence the name Prometheous. Maybe?

Ridley has been evasive on whether or not the planet in the beginning was actually Earth. A good thought, but cannot be confirmed.

I'm not sure it matters anyways, since they had to do something to Engineer life on our planet. Its a moot point.

Yeah I don't think it really matters. It just shows how life was started on any planet.
Regardless, I did not like this movie at first. But the more I think about it, the more I like it and I am very eager to see it again.

The first hour or so was good but it was a huge disappointment overall.

so Charlize Theron did have sex with the captain? I wasn't clear on that.

OK guys, I can't see it over here to where I'm going to have to wait for a knock-off DVD version of it, but I've been hearing that the film is LOST meets Alien? Is that more or less true? No Spoilers please.

I don't really see where you would get "Lost" from it other than Damon working on the film. I've only heard people who didn't like Lost say that it was similar to it.

I think it is more to do with all of the religious themes, unclear motivations and open questions people have that result in a bunch of different theories as to why character A did X,Y and Z.
Lindorf (SP?) even mentioned that the script was much more straightforward before he reworked it.

I guess I can agree with what you're saying. I wouldn't exclusively apply those things to Lost though. I understand how you could though.
That's an interesting comment about Lindelof. I wonder what the more straightforward story would have been like. I think all of that extra stuff is what makes this film better, even if it didn't all work perfectly. Which when I think about it is a lot like Lost. Even when the pieces didn't fit together perfectly, putting the puzzle together was still fun.

Yeah I am interested as well. I am sure someone has an original draft of the script. It would be interested to read.
I saw an interview where I think it was RS that was saying the movie was originally going to be called Paradise, but that the script made the connection to Milton's Paradise Lost to obvious. Here is a quick synopsis I pulled off of sparknotes that could have been the basis for what Prometheus was reworked to.
quote:
The action begins with Satan and his fellow rebel angels who are found chained to a lake of fire in Hell. They quickly free themselves and fly to land, where they discover minerals and construct Pandemonium, which will be their meeting place. Inside Pandemonium, the rebel angels, who are now devils, debate whether they should begin another war with God. Beezelbub suggests that they attempt to corrupt God’s beloved new creation, humankind.

It's more like "Alien" meets "Alien"

I'd say it's more like
AVP meets Alien
AVP meets Alien

You're right actually. With a little Stargate mixed in?
Posted on 6/12/12 at 10:04 am to Celery
