Good things come to those who wait, and when it comes to the future story of Daisy Ridley‘s Rey post Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker, it’s going to be a while as the latest scribe Steven Knight has exited, Deadline has confirmed. The search for a new screenwriter is underway according to sources.

Filmmaker Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy (Disney+ series Ms. Marvel) is still attached to direct. When Deadline spoke with Ridley at SXSW she was still waiting on a script. The actress said she knew “bits and bobs” about the new story; that it’s likely Rey, the granddaughter of the Emperor, doesn’t have any children in the next series which focuses on her starting a Jedi Academy.

Peaky Blinders creator Knight replaced previous scribes Damon Lindelof and Justin Britt-Gibson on the Star Wars project. This is par for the course for Lucasfilm when they’re trying to perfect Star Wars for the big screen.

Daisy Ridley just had an interview a few days ago. Some got excited, but they might have misunderstood what she was saying lol

According to Collider, during their event that included an early screening of Daisy Ridley's new movie Magpie and a Q&A with the actress, Magpie screenwriter Tom Bateman, and Ridley's co-star Shazad Latif, Ridley provided some new information about the progress of New Jedi Order. Per Collider, Ridley shared:

"Things are evolving. I continue to be very excited. There will be an update soon."

Now that Rings of Power Season 2 is done, they might have some free time.

What more do we need to see
about Rey?

Three movies she was the main character and that was more than enough.

Give me a Finn movie where I get to see how the empire trained storm troopers and have Finn liberate a bunch of kids being trained.

Give me an awesome X-Wing movie where Poe or someone has to go hunt down a Rogue Tie-Foghter squadron who is blowing up Republic Ambassadors and is red by a red baron type pilot. Hunt for Red October meets Top Gun

Sell Star Wars to me for 10,000 dollars.

The bar is so low, I could write a 2 billion dollar Star Wars movie in my sleep.

Rogue One is proof. By all almost all normal movie standards, that movie sucks except for the fan service.

But it did very well because the bar is so low

2 groups, really:

1) Disney Stans, who genuinely love the ST, and generally hate the OT. The Venn Diagram of this group and "people that enjoyed The Acolyte" is a single circle.

2) People who simp for it to "own the chuds", but won't actually watch it. . .but will blame others for it bombing. The Venn Diagram of this group and "people that have paid to see ANY SW movie in a theater" looks like a pair of Harry Potter glasses.

#2 is BY FAR the most vocal and persistent.

#1 is not insignificant, but aren't enough to make a major film or show successful.

Once out of TigerDroppings, you're going to find positive comments about any movie, no matter how badly this forum hates it.

My generation couldn't believe that the next generation loved the prequels. That generation couldn't believe kids liked the sequels. In another decade you'll have all three of those generations questioning the intelligence of the Star Wars fans that follow.

How about they instead burn down the timeline, just bring back Daisy Ridley, Mark Hamill, Adam Driver, and Andy Serkis and remake the Last Jedi with those four and burn every copy of lore since then outside of the Mandalorian?

Mark and Adam aren’t having any of it. They are done. Might as well try to dig up Carrie (like Mark wants to do)

Rey as a movie character is a glass of tap water as a beverage.

There's no interest in this movie at all. It will either be cancelled or eventually come out and surpass Solo as the biggest Star Wars box office flop.

A classic Mary Sue if ever there was one. Zero heroes journey or great obstacles to overcome. She’s literally Luke 2.0.

I liked the OT, didn't mind the prequels, didn't finish the sequel trilogy cuz i waited to watch the third movie streaming and cut it off 40 minutes in.

Enjoyed the acolyte tho. Definitely better than episode 8 or 9 (I'll assume 9 didn't get any better after I cut It off)

Mandalorian, Andor, Rogue One are all on par with the OT. Better than the prequels by a mile.

Poe could've been a great and iconic character but they wanted girl power.

I hope they spend $500m to $600m on the film, just to make sure they get it right. Maybe even $750m - it is THAT important.

It will be SO amazing to see Daisy back up there, kickin' arse and takin' names!
