OK, I'm caught up and I think the show is epic.
I'm ok with the rock banging. That is primitive behavior. They weren't thrown or anything. I can live with it.
I wasn't crazy about the fence climbing, especially considering the agility with which it was done. A better way to have done that would have been for the fence to collapse against the sheer weight of the large numbers of Zombies against it.
Zombies using their numbers to be effective while not being an individual threat is always better IMO.

But the whole thing is that zombies are dead...braindead. At least for the most part. So their bodies are still working, but their brains are not really (which is why they don't speak, recognize loved ones, etc.); they've just switched off and primal behavior takes over. It's like once a person turns, the switch gets flipped and the only thing they are concerned about is feeding. That's why I said earlier that it's basic, primitive instinct that takes over. It's not figuring stuff out or learning about stuff. Even something like realizing that hitting a rock on glass works better than hitting your hand on glass...that takes some kind of brainpower to recognize, and zombies shouldn't have that.
I'm no zombie expert, but I do like things to make sense in a real world sort of way. I don't think they should learn but I would believe they could pick something up and bang with it. Kind of like a baby picking up something and flipping it around. Does the baby really know what the hell it is doing...probably not. I agree with fresh zombies moving quicker and eating slowing the decay of it body. I would think if the zombie has decomposed severely and tried to pull him self over an obstacle such as a fence that his decayed flesh would give way and come off, but an athletic zombie scaling a fence is definitely out of the question.

So here's something I thought of:
Atlanta is very close to Ft. Benning...if I were a survivor, I'd drive right into Benning and straight to the Ranger compound. If any military people are alive, it's them. If everyone is dead...theres got to be a lot of weapons.

i see your point but since zombies are not real you can pretty much make up the rules as u go...for instance what makes a great zombie flick imo is that they have to be unpredictable but also believable so once in a while a zombie could climb a fence or a ladder of open a door or swim across a small river...if all zombies were limited to function the exact same way all the time then the show would be dull.

As far as the zombies scaling the fence, and using rocks to smash the glass doors -- there has to be some suspense. If the zombies are just lumbering around and fail to be a threat then the show would be pretty boring. It's a show trying to garner ratings -- not trying to please zombie "experts".
They have to somewhat please those who enjoyed 28 Days Later, and the 'dawn' remake; however, these zombies are far from sprinters.
Zombies are animated meat, and operate on basic instinct, but so do many animals who are still quite clever at obtaining food.

But that's still cognition in the brain of recognizing what it's doing, and realizing that it's better (i.e. better using a rock than just your hnds). Someone earlier mentioned that maybe the zombie just happened to have a rock in its hand and didn't really realize what it was doing. That could be okay, but I'd still question why it had the rock in the first place.
And comparing zombies to animals is still recognizing that they learn. Most animals are very smart when it comes to getting their food. I don't think zombies should be.
And to the person who said the show needs some suspense...normally the threat of zombies is the sheer number of them. Hell, they even said it on the show that if it's just a few, then you're likely fine, but if you get overrun, then you're fricked. It's the slow, steady, unresting aspect that makes zombies "scary" and dangerous.
And like someone else said, it's just nitpicking the show. I love the show so far, all this shite is just merely discussion.

I am really enjoying this show so far. Great special effects and most of the characters are pretty good.
The few problems I had in this episode were the scene with the guy's wallet (I understand the purpose but it just made me
), a few stupid lines between some of the characters, and why was the interstate perfectly clear going out of the city, but a fricking pileup on the other side?
I was really hoping there were going into the sewers, I thought that would have been fricking awesome. Maybe they will go back to that on a later episode.
The really cool other thing I like about this show is that it could literally go on forever or everyone will eventually die which are 2 very interesting scenarios.

Yeah that's the cool thing but also the worrisome thing about the show. They could go in some really great or really stupid directions. So far it's awesome.
I'm much more interested in how the humans evolve to cope with living in a zombie-infested world than I am in what individual zombies do.
Obviously it will be stupid if the zombies start using tactics and coordination, but beyond that I don't care if a random zombie, for whatever reason, scales a fence. At least the other zombies didn't learn from him and scale it also.
To me it's not beyond the realm of possibility that the disease/virus/whatever would affect different corpses differently, within some reasonable boundaries.
Back to the humans evolving/adapting, that to me is very interesting. Why is this one band camped out in the woods? Why not find a small town, kill all of the zombies, and set up shop there? Then from that home base, carry out anti-zombie operations all over the place.

For those who haven't watched the show yet or those that need to catch up, AMC is running all 3 episodes back to back Sunday starting at 7.

Bump so this doesn't end up on page 2 on The Walking Dead eve.
and I was actually gonna use this to bump it, but since it was already taken.
Anyway, very excited about tomorrow night. Can't wait to see how the boondock saint is gonna deal with them leaving his brother behind.

I agree with keeping this thread on the first page, there are too many stray threads popping up and I dont want to have to read 30 different threads for analysis.

Can we get Admins to sticky this so it doesn't fade into the 2nd page and we have 4 more threads pop up tomorrow?

One of the zombies began to climb the ladder. That is why the sheriff and glenn left the fire escape landing.

No. I have no idea why this happened. It is the first time one of my posts, to my knowledge anyways, has been marked unreadable. I don't remember my exact words but I don't think I used any profanity and there were no pics posted or links to anything. Just good old fashioned zombie debate!
