but I thought maybe one of the comic readers would have a definitive answer
Like i said, there is literally one page of him getting shot and then another of him waking up. I think Kirkman even said in an interview that he wasn't focussing on the timeline of him being under and it was up to the reader's imagination. It has nothing to do with the entire story, but it does leave lots of unanswered and annoying questions

quote:that's what got me reading the comics. every single zombie movie (and i love most of them) have the same plot. normal life, zombies come, loved ones get killed by other loved ones after they get bit, group of strangers come together to overcome all odds, movie ends.
What was striking was the tone of the show, as well as the main characters. Rick was excellent. And obviously, the show isn't about zombies, as OBU said, they are merely a vehicle for something else (and something that isn't as campy or as blunt as Romero's work). As long as the show keeps the premise, that it's about the people, then it should be ok. If it ever resorts to "How many zombies can we kill this week," it will die quickly. Because even as a zombie fan, that would get old quick.
This story begins where the others leave off and show you what can become of US when we have nothing left. What we become is almost worse than the zombies themselves.
I hadn't ever really read a "graphic novel" before this one and was shocked with how much it was able to affect me. there were issues that were actually tough to read it got so bad.
this is gonna be a fricking fantastic show.

So I'm wondering what the origin of the zombies are here. I haven't read the comics, but I'm guessing military experimentation here.

You will keep wondering. I am caught up with the series (issue #73) and no explanantion is given and Kirkman said he will never give one

I just got finished watching it a second time. I love it. It is so awesome seeing the characters I have read about come to life.
and its also awesome seeing zombies treated as horror and not a fricking punch line

Trying to watch it on AMC on Demand. It says you cannot fast-foward, so I got through about 20 minutes earlier, and now I have to watch it all over again.
but it's a great show so far.

Talk about a show that actually exceeded my expectations for once. Had some pretty emotional moments and the way they presented the post-apocalyptic world was flawless. Also great acting and gore effects which were way better than I anticipated.

Great show thus far.
I still will never understand the need to post spoilers or reference the comics in these threads.
We get it, you watched the show and read the comics. Cool. It doesn't add to these threads. No need to discuss what's going to happen, right? Isn't that the point of watching the show?
Couldn't there be a separate thread for the comic/spoilers for those who want to read them? We've seen them ruin many a good discussion threads on these board. Just a suggestion

I wasn't a fan of how they "placed" the main character in the post Z-day world. Too many holes for me and the resemblence to 28 days was uncanny. We're to believe he spent a couple weeks unattended to in a coma? You can only go 3 days without fluids, that IV would have run out within 1 day. He didn't have a catheter, but when he gets up he's completely clean? He didn't piss or shite in 2-3 weeks, I don't think so.
Also, didn't take long for his old lady to get over him. Already making time with his partner? I can over look a few things for plot advancements sake but they could have done a better job IMO.

You might want to reconsider that:
For ALL your zombie needs
You might even find stories by LSUzombie and ol' Enadious if you pick the right book.

It's really not that big a deal. There's only so many ways to have someone placed into the middle of a full blown zombie apocalypse.

Yes, and he was dehydrated and severly weakened when he woke up. Really? You're big hangup is that he didn't have shite and piss all over him? You might need to stick to documentries going forward.

Rick and his wife were already having serious issues before he got shot. You've only seen the first episode. You don't know how deep his partner and wifes relationship actually is yet.

Dude, he's kinda got a point. I'd love a seperate thread to discuss some of the comic plot points compared to the shows as the season progresses but even with a spoiler tag, people will probably still look at them. Maybe if we had the ability to white out spoilers it'd be different.
It might be best to start another thread for that and if those that didn't read the comic want in, they can go to that thread at their own risk.
