You’re being a dick but I’ll bite for the sake of discussion.
Is it even a fair comparison for a modern and obviously great show vs one from over 20 years ago? Seems apples to oranges. Plus seems like Wire had a lot more moving parts and it takes time to lay all that out.
Good modern series are masterful at laying the premise while quickly hooking you; Mobland is a great example.

Yeah I believe I can ignore any opinion of yours here on anywhere on TD. If it's it not your type of show, that's fine. But to call it shite when it's one of the most universally praised shows of all time just makes you look stupid.
It does seem that The Wire is getting the classic treatment of being loved, then trashed by edge lords. Happens to every show

I was another one that did not get the same feel from the wire that so many here did. I liked the show. But I just never got as connected as some here did.

No. I watched 3 seasons waiting for it to pick up and get good. It never did. Incredibly boring show.

It’s far more than a crime/legal “soap opera” David Simon and Eric Overmyer produced one of the most engaging series on tv. Plot and characterization were excellent and well-written. Revealed a lot of what was behind the scenes with cops and politicians, as well as the drug gangs. None of it was romanticized…
