Just watched
Terribly underwhelming but lays out a whole bunch of storylines for S2.
Also saw Jack's inspection sticker said 96 so we know he still dies around this time.

In all seriousness
They shite the bed with the finale.
I was disappointed we didn't see how jack died.

Think Randall wanting to adopt might cause some friction with Beth.
Kev probably gonna have to choose between work and Sophie.
Kate wants to sing? (We know she can)
This one felt like a fall finale setting up the winter season.

Anyone else thrown off by the timeline?
So the kids are born in 1980 when Jack is 36 right?
Becca is 40 in 1996. So that would mean she would've been 24 in 1980. And I'm pretty sure they already said she was 29 when she got pregnant.
So Jack is 28 when they meet, so that would've been 1972. She would've been 16.
Or did I miss something?

Where did you get this from?

The kids are all 36 during the current timeline. I don't think it was ever mentioned that Jack was also 36 when they were born. I think that might be your confusion. Plus that would mean the Jack we're seeing in 1996 is 52

Well if the kids were born in 1980, when she was 24, not sure where you're getting the 29 age from.

It shouldn't be hard to find out when the kids were born.

How sure are y all that was the finale? I know Parenthood always had their season finale in March, but I go out of my way to avoid promos and the "next week on This Is Us" after-episode previews. So I never heard it mentioned it was the finale, but I'm not sure I would have. If it was--and there's enough of you, that I expect it was--I agree it was very anti-climactic and kind of a cheat with the way they kept alluding to the car crash. They foreshadowed it so much It was almost over-the-top, and then nothing? Weak. I'm also with y'all that "Memphis" would have made a great finale.
That said, there's nothing they could have shown Tuesday that turned me to where I won't be excited about next season. They built a tremendous amount of capital with me--and I'm sure all of you, and I'll be anxious to see where it picks up in September. I don't think I've enjoyed a season of network tv as much since early West Wing seasons. And I loved Parenthood.

This Is Us wikia has Jack as born in 1944. Making him 36 in 1980.
They said he was 36 in episode 1. In episode 18, his dad refers to him as his "28 year old son", meaning he and Becca met in 1972.
Clearly when Jack called her a "40 year old" in episode 18, he meant 46 year old.
