He can go back to Albuquerque, explain his death (minus Kim’s involvement), and restore his legacy. He’ll do some time, but still get out with time left, time to do whatever he wants without the worry of Walter White, Gus, the cartel, the police, or anyone else out to get him. He’ll have a clean slate
HC no disrespect and I enjoy your posts on here. But this is wishful thinking. If Jimmy/Saul/Gene turns himself in, they’ll throw him so far under the jail he’ll never see daylight again.
He’s accessory to countless murders, voluminous meth deals, robberies, nursing home bombings, etc. as Walter White’s lawyer that he’ll likely be in prison the rest of his life. Or at best, be released as a doddering old man to live out his final couple years in Casa Tranquila like Hector Salamanca—wouldn’t that be ironic?
I’m just saying there’s no scenario where James Morgan McGill does four years time and is released on good behavior to go start a pro bono law firm. He’s nothing if not a legal expert. If that was in the cards, he’d have surrendered immediately instead of desperately fleeing to get vacuumed and disappearing off the radar.

That episode starts out with Gene rifling through a shoe box in his closet and spilling out a crap ton of diamonds.
those are probably as fake as the box of Rolex watches
Saul was the one who not only knew the vacuum cleaner man but also talked about the necessity of having to disappear and ending up running a cinabon in Omaha. He was too smart and too prepared to not end up w/ money. He just can't spend it without drawing attention to himself like Walt ending up in New Hampshire with a barrel full of cash in his little cabin.

So BB had the better call Saul episode and BCS has a breaking bad episode. I’ll just assume your he next episode will be the BCS perspective of the same timeframe. It’s no coincidence they mentioned the public masturbator already

Just watched that. Decided I was going to try to watch all the Saul episodes from Breaking Bad to fill some time between BCS episodes, since I'm not watching anything else right now.
I forgot or never realized how many episodes he was in:
Not sure that chart from fandom is 100% accurate; watched one episode that he did not appear in, and some descriptions are a little off. But man, it's so hard to watch individual episodes of BB without getting sucked in. Ended up watching Jane dying again and triggering the incredible, improbable, unprecedented plane collision. Oh Q....

He has never hurt anyone else more than he has himself. I think at his core, he is a good man.
He's a HORRIBLE human being. That shite with him and Kim going to HHM for Howard's memorial service - I put that up with some of the worst things Walter did. (and Walter had people murdered) In the process of trying to destroy a good man's professional and personal reputation, he inadvertently got him killed. And then to go there and cry crocodile tears to the man's wife and straight up lie to her.
Jimmy/Saul/Gene is every bit as flawed as Walter. He could have been a good attorney in ABQ working for one of the big firms there (he worked for Davis & Main, Howard offered him a job at HHM after Chuck died, didn't Schweikart offer him a job?), but he threw it all away because of his ego.

I think I would say he is a deeply flawed man. That’s led him to do some horrible things. And maybe that’s a distinction without a difference. But I view him differently that I do Walt or the Salamancas or Gus. I don’t think he is evil. But maybe that’s just wishful thinking because I like him so much.

Did anyone notice what Jeff did the all the shoplift/alarm tags that he snipped off of the merchandise he was stealing?
I’m sure finding those scattered amongst the merchandise would set off suspicion the next day.

They have a bin under the cash register where they toss those. You buy a shirt, clerk removes the alarm tag and tosses it under the cash register.

I had to go back and rewatch it myself. BCS, S4 E5, the cold open is a flash forward to Saul and Francesca shredding papers before the vacuum guy picks him up.
This article explains it and you can go back on Netflix to rewatch it.

We don’t know precisely when “Nippy” leaves us off in the Gene Takovic timeline but we do know that we’re very close to an important upcoming event. In Better Call Saul season 4 episode 5 “Quite a Ride”, the show opens with the rare midseason flash forward. In it, Francesca helps Saul clean out their office and shred documents as everything figuratively comes crashing down. Before he leaves to become Gene Takovic, Saul asks Francesca to be at a nearby telephone booth at 3 p.m. on November 12, 2010.

you think Saul gave it a go?

Once again, just an awful human being with no redeeming virtues.

I should let this go, but I can't. Sorry but not sorry.
Howard and everyone in BCS is but a character in a play, a chess piece if you will. And no matter how beautifully carved a piece he may be, he can only move at the direction of the writers. This is true of all characters in all works of fiction from Homer to Shakespeare to Vince Gilligan. We all (myself included) sometime lose sight of that, but that's what and all they are. Every scene, every word spoken is in service to a greater story line or to make a point to the audience. In this universe there is no free will.
Howard's character HAD to go to Jimmy & Kim's apartment. Rewatch that scene and listen to the dialog. Howard, in a moment of clarity, realizes that Chuck McGill was right - Jimmy with a law degree and sanctioned to practice law was like giving a machine gun to a monkey. He also pegs Kim as wasted talent - best legal mind he's ever seen, all that potential wasted in service to an elaborate prank. Howard even drives home the point that they didn't do it for money, they did it for the kicks. This reinforces the scene in Jimmy/Saul's office where Kim is humping Jimmy on the sofa in the background while Howard's life is going down the drain in the foreground on the Sandpiper settlement conference call.
Finally, Howard's death at the hands of Lalo in their apartment drove home the fact that Jimmy and Kim's little game had real consequences, literally laid at their feet. Howard could have just as easily gone home and sulked, and Lalo would still have used Jimmy and Kim to distract Fring. Howard had to die in the way he did to further the story line.
Howard's character and his ultimate demise served its purpose - it showed that Jimmy and Kim were at best wasted potential, in reality nothing more than two con artists running a scam, and at worst accessories to Howard's murder - collateral damage if you will, that should bear on Kim and Jimmy's conscience. Kim's character had the decency to finally admit her role in this and wanted out, but only after she twisted the knife in Howard's widow's back. That apparently was the straw that broke her back. Jimmy wanted to get past it and move on. Which clearly, he has.
Sorry for the dissertation. IMO, Jimmy's character, who maybe started out as sympathetic, has made bad choices one after the other, and deserves whatever fate awaits him as this story comes to its conclusion.

Nobody here has said Saul was a good guy. You can still root for flawed characters. He was still Jimmy to his core for the majority of the show, but he wanted to make some coin in the process. He found a community that could actually use his services, albeit criminals.
I think he got himself in deeper than he ever intended with Lalo. Saw he could thrive in that environment and that's where he "broke".
3/4 of the show was Jimmy trying to find his place. He ultimately chose a bad path, but its not like this entire time he was an evil, awful guy.

I'm finally back
I can't believe it took me this long to start BCS. This is brilliant and fantastic television.
I'm not sure why some of you hate these gene episodes. Seems most were expecting a gun blazing firework show like BB. I've got 3 episodes to go and can't wait to see where it takes us. Carol Freaking Burnett
Ive been lurking on each season and episode thread. I have one thing to say. I hate Ham Solo with passion. He's whats wrong with the sec rant and the internet all together.
