Seriously are you one of these YouTube guys? It would be smart advertising but at least be honest about it otherwise it’s weird

Joker 2 and The Marvels might have something to say about that. TLJ started all this, but it was still highly profitable for Disney.
TLJ was not highly profitable for Disney in the grand scheme of things. Yeah it made money, but it tanked the entire franchise and even the stuff they had at Disney World.
A Han Solo movie didn't even make $400M world wide, while Rogue One made over $1B all b/c of TLJ, and that's during a time when movie theater box office was at an all time high with several billion dollar films being churned out regularly.
TLJ had the second biggest opening weekend of all time when it premiered, behind TFA. It crossed $1B in 15 days. TFA crossed $1B in 12 days, the fastest ever. Yet TFA still made another billion after those 12 days, while TLJ made $300M b/c of the terrible word of mouth it was getting. TROS took over a month to get to $1B, and stopped right there.
TLJ should have been Avengers IW and Endgame big. Instead it pretty much destroyed the most popular movie franchise of all time an dit's affects are still felt today b/c the idiots at Disney keep doubling down on stupidity.
They can't even continue the story of that trilogy to make more money, which should have been a really easy thing to be able to do.

You've got to stretch far out there to find angles to bitch about TFA. You can't use the two follow up movie frick ups to try to talk negatively about TFA. It was a good movie that was extremely well recieved when it came out. It did'nt make $2B while pissing fans off.
Don't know why I bother even typing if you're not going to read. I stated clearly that yes, Rey & Finn were well liked by the fans and also that TFA was decent enough but failed to lead anywhere. And I explained WHY it did so well at the box office. Followed by WHERE it failed. Bigly.
quote:
It had an audience score near 90% when it first came out, and after the TLJ and TROS people hated those so much that they had to go back and leave enough reviews for TFA to drop it down to 84% where it sits now.
Sort of like how Winter Soldier set up the Nick Fury eye injury only to have Disney Marvel crap on Nick and the fans with it being nothing but a kitty cat scratch in Captain Marvel. Once again, subverted expectations. Fans fricking HATE that, yet big studios love putting this garbage into their stories.
Mainly because movie studios think fans and comic book nerd fans are idiots.
quote:
Was it a perfect movie? of course not, but there was nothign about it that would suggest any type of failure in any way after it came out. It was such a success that TLJ could have surpassed TFA box office easily had they not gone full retard b/c there was that much excitement built up for TLJ b/c of the success of TFA. I could very easily nitpick things i didn't like about TFA as a Star Wars nerd, but it wasn't a big deal to me at that time b/c it was still a very enjoyable movie that set up for a potentially great trilogy.
What they set up and what actually happened aren't exactly similar.
Even Daisey Ridley admitted that JJ had no freaking clue how they were going to connect her with the dead Palpatine. Or even if she was related. The POINT is they had no plan. Even as they were shooting, they were making it up as they went along.
Disney didn't care about the story. They just wanted product so they could sell merch for and print out endless cookie cutter spin offs. And don't forget the Galactic Starcruiser or Galaxy's Edge.
One massive fail after another.

Can't imagine why. I mean, Gary decided to leave Commiefornia after the gov had shut down his wife's business along with 1000's of others, but allowed the movie industry to stay open. And like so many, he decided to flee to Texas. So yeah, real world issues do tend to crop up from time to time.

You have to learn the difference between these 2 things. Galaxy's Edge is very successful, galactic Starcruiser was a fail.
The Star Wars rides in galaxy's edge have the longest queue times of any rides in the Hollywood Studios to this very day and have since they launched.

Sure, but then TROS was another billion dollar film. Yes, TLJ was very divisive, we all know that.

I agree that a movie with Luke freaking Skywalker should've made 2 billion+. I'm just saying it's not the biggest bust ever. That's all.

So you think the busiest ride in the park isnt successful?
Posted on 10/29/24 at 1:17 pm to Corinthians420
I very much doubt G.E. had the busiest ride for more than a day, a few days right as it opened up.
The movies got decreasingly popular. The merch isn't selling. But sure, the 'ride' is awesome?
Call me skeptical.

Rise of the Resistance is still the longest queue time in Hollywood Studios today.
This just proves how watching YouTube reactions doesn't give you the full picture.

That's different from Galaxy's Edge, which opened in Walt Disney Land, in CA.
Posted on 10/29/24 at 1:26 pm to SouthEasternKaiju
Galaxy's Edge is the star wars area in Disney world.
It's the name of the star wars themed area.
Im sure it's very similar to the one in Disneyland. But Disney world is a much larger park

You're cherry picking to make your case.
Galaxy's Edge in Disneyland opened up in 2019.

Oh and rise of the Resistance has an even bigger gap for longest queue time at the Disneyland park

Galaxy's Edge is the name of the themed area. Rise of the Resistance is the main ride. It is the busiest ride at Disneyland and at Disney World Hollywood Studios.
I know that goes against your entire worldview that star wars is dead but the numbers don't lie.

That's great. But that's just one ride. I was speaking of the overall portion of the park.
But cope as you must.
BTW, did you get your Inquisitor Reva light saber delivered yet?
