He was best friends with Chris Farley when they both worked on SNL.
Sadly, alcohol might not be the only substance he has abused in his life if he ran in the same crowds as Farley.

He would become Mary Poppins in space.

They go back to Second City. I doubt he’s living a Farley lifestyle at this point.

Plus I just read a story about how he got in great shape for his latest movie and he thought he was the healthiest ever

I have recently been fighting heart failure at age 34. Been in hospital 3 times in 4 months, 2 of those a week+ In ICU. And the symptoms aren’t really anything before they suddenly sneak up on you and you crater. No one is ever thinking “oh, heart failure!” There’s a good chance he can bounce back, and my guess is congenital heart failure if aren’t calling it congested or a heart attack.
I’m going out on a limb here, but that action movie he filmed could have kinda started the snowball effect for him. I was pushing myself like an animal during this pandemic. Got in the best shape of my life momentarily and then CRASH.
Wish him the best. Don’t lose hope you’ll get your last season just yet. Battling heart problems has come a LONG way.
ETA: I just read the other posts in this thread, including the one right above me. Wow. There’s machines they can put in place of transplants. I only know about the LVAD: but I think a few hospitals around the country can put in another one as well. They will buy him time almost assuredly.

Don’t mess with the heart. Heart disease runs in my family and I saw the cardiologist for the first time the month I turned 40.
Work out every day and bloodwork was perfect. Did a heart scan and I had off the charts high plaque, specifically in the widow maker artery
Had to get a heart catheter and thankfully it wasn’t in one place. A lot of people wait until it’s too late

I thought the same thing. Seriously though, what in the world would they do in that type of situation? Not just BCS but any show, assume you're in the final season of a multi-season show with only a few episodes left to film and your main character star dies. Would they just have to rewrite him out some way that would make the show obviously suffer? Or just kinda do their best and put up something before the epsidoes saying something like "look...we know this ending sucks and is rushed but, ya know..our lead wasn't aroudn to film the end so this is what we came up with"

When I see commercials with like 6 feet 300+ lb males eating pure crap that tastes delicious, they irrationally annoy me

Happened with that Parnassus movie, right? With Heath Ledger?
I imagine they’d do the same here. Bring in a couple of guys that would pay homage to Odenkirk and have a connection to him. Finish the show and call it in memoriam.

Yeah, Farley is a high bar. Maybe Odenkirk did coke somewhat regularly, but there were plenty of people who hung around Farley who did not have his vices. The best example of this is when Farley was hosting SNL, Norm told Artie Lange of all people to make sure Chris didn’t do drugs. While he was dead a few months later, Artie’s retelling of the story is fricking hilarious: YouTube

They asked the Queen Mum how she was still alive at 95 and she said she drank a pint of Gin a day.
Heart disease is largely genetic. Probably same with Cancer. The Greeks believed in fate no matter what we do.
You can battle your predisposition but that's all you can do.

Yep. I remember asking the cardiologist how this could happen to a 39 year old athlete. He said genetics are a bitch. Said had I not been in great shape he would be opening me up.
shite hit me out of left field

So good news. David Cross who was once Bib’s comedic partners and still one of his best friends tweeted this out:

House of Cards was a bit like this when Keven Spacey became toxic. I didn't bother watching the final season.

Probably means he’s stabilized and it isn’t life threatening currently. Making the heart better without a transplant is just a grind fest that requires patience typically. It’s not a black and white problem in the slightest, meaning there’s no one track treatment and there’s a level of trial, error, and discipline required.
