He's the one who usurped her awhile back while she was raising with Ragnar and Co. And unbeknownst to her he also tried to have Bjorn killed.

ETA: She told him from the jump she would have to kill him at some point.

Lagertha is my spirit animal. She's such a bad, bad bitch. I hate that she may never find someone that's truly her equal and doesn't want her just for their political gain.

My theory of the show at this point, is that Aslaug, who was really Ragnar's first wife (IRL) is going to get taken out with this new King dude and his little uprising and then Lagertha (IRL #2), who is the freaking ViQueen goddess of wrecking shite, will reunite with Ragnar after Bjorn comes to town and puts a death skirt on the little Horik boy.

They will then go for revenge in Wessex and wreck shite but Ragnar will be betrayed by the fat king and be thrown in the snake pit.

That'll be the season finale either season or next. Then Bjorn will take Ragnar's place as the ultimate bad arse the following season.

(Floki can't go through with betrayal again, right? and they've already tricked us with him pretending to betray Ragnar with Horik, I mean come on Floki, wtf?)

Finally got caught up this season. The latest episode is one of my favorites of the entire series.

Man, Ragnar is really hooked on that stuff.

The real Ivar was supposedly a badass Viking. The sagas refer to him as towering over other Vikings and being a ferocious warrior.

Ivar the Boneless lead the Great Heathen Army which conquered most of England and much of Ireland.

Yeah he is.

I'll always love Lagertha and Ragnar's dynamic. I'm not sure I'm still a fan of that dynamic if they're back together though. He tends to hold her back IMO. His vision on the river bank made me sad as hell though.

At this point Ragnar is turning into a weak arse junky. It's only a matter of time before he slips up.

frick some Aslaug. Cannot be said enough. Ivar looks so creepy when he's laying there laughing.

Rollo is terrified as hell. He knows shite getting real. IDGAF how hard he tries to look on top of that damn horse.

Was coming here to post this after finally watching. That was one of the most powerful moments in a tv episode I've ever seen. Their dynamic was perfect in the early going and we got to see Ragnar finally acknowledge his mistake. He lost himself the moment he betrayed Lagertha and that scene was as much about realizing he no longer had the fire for greatness as it was about regrets.

Rollo realizes you can only look so tough in a French poofy haircut and gold threaded fancy shirts.

Floki is obviously some sort of God. I mean, he cures and bangs other people's wives through another persons body? Wtf is going on here?

Also, nice stand by Rollo. I'm happy for him.

I think it's just a vision. That Aslaug is banging Harbard, the traveller. That's the only way that scene remotely makes sense to me.

How he could know or have an idea that Harbard might in town I'm not sure. Probably assumes in the back of his mind since the last time Harbard showed up was when they were raiding.
