I mean it's character development.

If Bruce Banner was the same volatile loose cannon as his first appearances, that's a pretty one note character.

I'm sure eventually something will happen that will trigger something, otherwise that will become one-note/boring as well(and for some seemingly already has).

Thanos is smart enough to avoid fights with the hulk. He isn't scared of him but see him as a nuisance that nothing could be gained by engaging in a fight.

Thanos is dangerous because he is so much more durable than most and that includes the hulk. He is also stronger than the hulk when hulk isn't enraged. So he beat his arse quick enough so that a senseless brawl wouldn't occur.

To be fair, Hulk movief flopped like Green Lantern flopped. Lost money. However the more sinister reason is, they do not want to put a angry white male in a heroic light. That is Hulk power, anger.

It's a story arc, that's all. Bruce has basically been alone and on the run since 08 when he fought Abomination.

He's finally got a truce with the Hulk and they are working together. He finally isn't angry/scared all the time.

I guarantee you at some point, when something terrible happens, Bruce will get mad enough, and "puny Banner" goes away, and our big green scary friend comes back roaring.

And he clearly seems to be less hugely muscled, right? Look at how gigantic he looks next to Thor in terms of his shoulders and arms, and then look at that last image of him in a wife beater. It's like he laid off the weights for about a year.

Remember that Hulks true power comes from his anger. Professor Hulk is a calm jovial person, so his strength will be neutered in that form. Wait til he gets angry again.

With Hulk? Not a damned thing.

You made interesting (and some good) points, but they’re definitely going somewhere with his arc. They’re setting up World War Hulk, like the post below yours says.
