Showtime ran a promo for Dexter Season 5, it was just Rita dead in a bloody bathtub. I was still in one of the earlier seasons when I saw the promo.

One spoiler that I saw happen, which pissed me off, but didnt happened to me was..

My SO and I were watching Breaking Bad through. It was probably my 20th viewing but was her 1st. Going into season 5..her damn sister needs to use my washing machine and dryer so she comes over to do laundry. We mention the show and she immediately talks about how shitty walter was for killing mike.

I kind of had the end of Deathly Hallows ruined for me, because the big thing going in was will Rowling let Harry live. I had the book at work, and we were taking a break in the truck. Co-worker picks it up, goes straight to the back, and then "Oh, so Harry eventually hooks up with that red head, huh?"

Empire Strikes Back - the dude literally in front of us in this long arse line is reading the Empire Strikes Back book (I didn't even know they had books on the movies) and turns around and says "can you believe Darth Vadar is Luke's father?" No joke, not kidding.

I was just a kid so I didn't know how to respond and didn't yell at him and my Mom was out of the Star Wars loop so didn't say anything...but what an a-hole.

And why would you read the plot while standing in line to see the movie? Made no sense.

Did this to someone - yes, I know I'm a jerk.

Season 5 finale of GOT. I knew one of our summer interns was a big fan and wasn't home the night of the show. Like usual, got to work earlier than him - go straight to his computer and change the background to the final scene of Jon Snow lying on the ground. Then waited for the reaction once I saw him walk in.

I did spend the next few years going on complete and total outside world lockdown if I couldn't watch an episode live, as I knew he wanted payback in the worst of ways.

Wasn't a spoiler for me but as we walked out of Avengers:Endgame, there were lines of people for the next show. Some young teenagers had their grandfather bring them to the movie and as we passed all the people he blurts out "I can't believe they killed Iron Man"

When Game of Thrones first came out, I didn’t know anything about it. I was home visiting my parents who were watching ine of the episodes in the middle of the first season and thought it was kinds cool. A couple weeks later, I was back at their house and caught another episode, but it was the big shocker near the end of Season 1 where _______ gets beheaded by _________. Because I had missed the restvof the season leading up to that moment, it didn’t have any impact. I ended up watching a bunch of season 1 out of order and had to eventually go back and rewatch in the right order to figure out what I had missed.

I also had the ____ wedding and _____ wedding spoiled for me on here before getting to them in the books or show.

I had a coworker ruin Saw for me. He kept telling me I had to see it. Everyone was talking about how good it was. I couldn’t wait to see it.

A week or two went by and I did something to piss him off. He looks at me and asks. Have you seen Saw yet? Not yet, I replied.

Well don’t bother. The dead guy on the floor during the whole movie is really alive and is the killer.

Han Solo's fate in Force Awakens was ruined for me by trolls on Facebook who thought it was funny to post spoilers in random threads.

I was on twitter one day around the beginning of S7 of GoT. I followed a few fan pages and one posted this picture of a piece of a script. I was in a group message with some friends that would all talk about the show. So of course, I screen shot it and sent it to the group "how cool would this be" ( I thought it was just one of those fan renditions of the script) Turns out.....it was the exact script....I ruined littlefingers death at the beginning of Season 7. We all had to watch that entire season knowing how and when he died.

I saw TFA rowards the end of its run in theaters and had most of it spoiled by then. Same with Solo.

I’ve never seen TROS but I already know the whole movie from spoilers, granted, I sought those out.

A second story,

The same group chat with friends from Littlefinger death story*

We were discussing umbrella academy one day, one person had not finished it and one person had never seen it. The person that never watched it thought it would be funny to just drop a random "spoiler" just to get a rise out of everyone..spoilers are a BIG bash topic in our group...how could he spoil it he'd never seen it. Well, he choose to say "the monkey dies" which was a pretty big spoiler. I felt bad for both of them. One didn't know what he had done, the other just had it revealed one of his favorite characters dies.

During GoT a bunch of friends shared my HBO Go account. I went to watch the episode where Joffrey is poisoned that Monday after the release. Flip on the episode and didn't realize someone had been watching and paused it. Just so happens they paused at the exact time Joffrey is laying dead and purple. Spoiled that whole episode/event for me. Changed my HBO Go password that night

This actually reminds me how I spoiled True Detective for myself. I used a friend's login and start the show. I didn't realize it would start on the last episode they watched, which was over a year before. The entire episode my wife and I are confused. I kept saying "Well, maybe we are supposed to be confused and everything will get pieced together". Well, turns out we were watching the finale. We realized it with about 10 minutes left. It took us a year to get the energy to start from the beginning. I'm glad we did because we enjoyed it a lot.

While sitting in the theater to see Avengers: Endgame, I got on twitter to look up some basketball news. In the comments to an article about a game, the very first comment was "Tony Stark snaps his fingers and dies."

I was so pissed it was true.
