Also, Edgar Rice Burroughs had a good number of novels taking place during WWI.

The Land that Time Forgot (featuring Doug McLure) has McClure vs a German submarine Captain and crew.

. No... the German Army is not the same army that mechanized human extinction to the level it rose to during WW2

Russia had been Communist since 1917. It ran circles around Germany's brutality.

Does that lessen the German Army's brutality in Belgium?

It puts it in perspective. Whatever brutality Germany committed, Communist Russia was far worse.

That chart reminds me that we are a few short years away from the contemporary modern era being over a century, and IMDb needs to get with the Y2K program and change their dating system.

Why so few WWI movies?

Another element that I think plays a big role in this that wasn't commented on: the average American citizen doesn't care about this war. It never really affected the homeland like ww2, and would probably have had the same result in essentially the same time period has the US not gotten involved.

And then when a film producer wants to make a war movie, they tend to get sucked into the wars that are most prominent in the American psyche: WW2 and Vietnam.

In fact, I think the general relative apathy for the Korean War is for much the same reason: WW2 and Vietnam sucks up most of the MSM coverage in spite of Korea being of far more direct interest and impact to Anerican citizenry than WW1

The real reason the Korean War is overlooked is no one wants to step on M*A*S*H.

I recently watched William Kelly's War on amazon prime.
It is about an Australian and based on a "true" story. I found it interesting and entertaining. Was nominated for Australian movie awards. link to movie review contains spoilers
