May not be the GOAT, but the first score that always comes to mind for me is Inception. "Time" is brilliant.
ETA: Yep, just listened to it. Chills.

Obviously Williams
the LOTR trilogy has grown on me
basil polidouris ->
conan
Red October
the PIXAR films have had fantastic scores that seems to be overshadowed by the animation.
WALL-E and UP fantastic
underrated score

He started with Stanley Meyers and it looks like he didn't start with Ridley (my favorite director) until 1989. He scored most of Tony's films starting with Days of Thunder and most of Penny Marshall's films starting with A League of their Own. Pretty impressive.
I listed a Ridley film (Bladerunner (Vangelis score), and a Tony film True Romance (Zimmer score) - and now that I look at the body of work, I also like most of Zimmer's scores.

Terrible music.
Forgot about Hook and Pirates. Good choices.
Master and Commander too.

Same here. Like the movie itself, the music is a good mix fun, humor, suspense, and action.
