Mine is an All-Time list, though I definite can't limit it to 5.

1. LOST: I love the depth and all the theorizing this show has caused over the years. It will take a unbelievably horrible ending to ruin this show for me.

2. The Wire: Unbelievable show which showed several different aspects of Baltimore. People bitch about certain seasons, but the worst seasons of The Wire are better than every season of half the shows posted in this thread.

3. Arrested Development: Best sitcom I've ever watched. Takes 3-5 viewings of every season to catch every single minuscule joke in this show. I'll watch this show from the Pilot to the final episode three times in a row sometimes without watching anything else in between.

4. The Sopranos: Solid, entertaining show the entire way through. Similar to LOST, it had people coming up with theories about the show for years before it ended. I hated the ending when it aired, but it has grown on me and I see it as a very fitting conclusion now.

5. How I Met Your Mother: I'm not sure why people in my age group (18-24) watch The Office way more than this show, but they're missing out. The characters are so contrasting, but work so well together. There's happily married guy, the guy who is single and way too worried about getting married, then the guy who has no interest in anything serious and constantly searching for one night stands. Great show that I wish more people watched.

6. Dexter: The show will make you hope a serial killer avoids being caught, isn't that enough?

7. The Shield: Similar to Dexter, there's no perfectly well-behaved protagonist. In the beginning you hate Vic Mackey, then he slowly grows on you, then towards the end of the show (I'm halfway through season 6 FWIW) he starts making decisions that make him unlikeable again.

8. Weeds: I'm fairly confident that this is the only show I've seen that has cliffhanger season finales that are as good as LOST's.

9. South Park: This show could go on forever, and most people wouldn't mind.

10. The Office: I would have had this higher a couple years ago but now it seems any major event in the office is Jim and Pam related, which gets annoying.

I enjoy Entourage for what it is but I wouldn't put it in my top shows. I'm hoping they wrap it up sooner rather than later.

It's in mine. I get why some folks don't put it in their top shows (show has its faults), but IMO Ari Gold is one of the best TV characters of all time. Ari Gold's character alone puts this show near the top for me.

To the people who put "Tool Time"

A. It's home improvement you rednecks.
B. Have you ever gone back and watched this show? It's mediocre at best. The later seasons were awful btw.

I thought it was just some knockoff show I never heard of. That's pretty funny.

All-time: Frisky Dingo
Short lived, but I don't know if i will ever like a show as much as I like the two seasons of this. About as perfect as you can get IMO. And I don't even really like adult cartoons.
Current: Always Sunny
Even though I thought it was better w/o Devito. Those first 7 episodes or so were all made me cry. I just don't find Devito all that funny. Still, it's my favorite show on tv.

lost
tru blood
entourage

that is the extent of the series that I watch every episode of on TV right now although I'm going to give Treme a shot when lost ends and i can watch the season straight through. I'm going to be really bummed when Lost is over.

Because it's repetitive. I enjoy it, but I rarely rewatch the seasons I own and usually only find myself watching those for Ari.

1. Lost- simply the only television show that made me sure that I was going to find a way to watch it every week, no matter what.
2. Arrested Development- simply the single funniest television show in the history of television....in my opinion.
3. 24- A show that took television action to another level with two of the most badass characters I have ever seen (Bauer and Palmer).
4. The office- say what you will about the last couple seasons (minus Niagra), but I can sit and watch the first four seasons of this show over and over again and it never gets old.
5. Dexter- quickly working it's way up my favorites list. From the complexities of the story to the Dexter's complex portrayal as a flawed hero makes this show undeniably great and incredibly addictive.

Here are my explanations:
Top 5 Currently:
Psych-I know it's repetitive and maybe even easy to solve the mystery, but Shawn and Gus have some of the best Chemistry on TV right now. Every episode is truly entertaining, and I love that I watched the show from the beginning.
Chuck-Ever watched this show? Watch it and you'll truly understand how great this show is. An exciting, diverse cast which work well together. The writing is top-notch for a campy show, as long as it doesn't get cancelled, Chuck has a great future.
South Park-Wednesday nights just aren't the same without SP. It's certainly not as good as it used to be, but I like how it has an apolitical stance, attacking the left and the right, but mainly the left haha
Lost-Best drama on TV ever.
How I Met Your Mother-like someone said earlier, how do more people not watch this show?? NPH is absolutely golden in every episode. The 5 main characters definitely top this show over Friends.
The Office-The best 4 seasons (in a row) of comedic television that my generation has seen.

All Time:
Arrested Development-The best 3 seasons of comedic television that not enough people have seen and truly appreciated. The best thing Ron Howard has ever been a part of.
Monty Python's Flying Circus-Best TV DVDs I've ever bought. I know a lot of people love Monty Python and the Holy Grail, but this is obviously where it started. The sketches are quite random, but each one some brilliantly written.
Seinfeld-I could watch this everyday. Larry David=genius
Office UK-the inspiration for one of my favorite US shows ever, the Office UK was a wonderful show. If you haven't had a chance to watch this show, pick up a copy, bootleg it, or something, because it is very, very funny.
Hogan's Heroes-I love this show! It's in my top 5 of all time because it was truly one of the first shows I ever watched. It has lost nothing from it's original viewings and Klink is still funny.
