Alex, who co-founded Van Halen in 1972 with his younger brother Eddie, and has been largely absent from the public eye since the Eddie's death in 2020, is set to release his memoir on October 22 via HarperCollins.
The memoir will be soundtracked by "Unfinished," the final track Alex and Eddie wrote together. The song will feature within Alex's narrative.
Speaking about the motivation behind writing "Brothers," Alex has said, "This is my tribute to my brother; my way of saying goodbye. Ed, I love you and miss you. When I see you again, I'm gonna kick your arse!"
"I was with him from day one," the drummer has said. "We shared the experience of coming to this country and figuring out how to fit in. We shared a record player, an 800-square-foot house, a mom and dad, and a work ethic."
"Later, we shared the back of a tour bus, alcoholism, the experience of becoming famous, of becoming fathers and uncles, and of spending more hours in the studio than I've spent doing anything else in this life," he continued. "We shared a depth of understanding that most people can only hope to achieve in a lifetime."

I read the biography a few years back. Was not impressed with how they treated Michael Anthony.

Never saw or read an interview over all these years where I said, “Eddie and Alex seem like good guys. Would love to hang with them.” They gave off a kinda dickish vibe to me.

In many if not most famous rock groups, fame quickly outpaces maturity.
Yep, Michael is a fantastic bass player and vocalist and VH legacy. That said, Alex's lines in the OP are really cool. And IMHO, EVH is the GOAT. Just wished their maturity was commensurate with their fame.

I don't know why but for some reason Eddie didn't like Anthony at all. He used to put him down every chance he got.
I used to joke with a buddy of mine that Anthony must have fricked his old lady but in reality I don't know what the deal was between them

They drastically reduced his percentage if I recall.

I'm pretty sure that's correct

I'm trying to recall the specifics from the book about the DLR era.. but I think around 1984... they came to him to sign away most of his rights to the publishing because he didn't write any of the songs.. neither did Alex, but he was a VH... MA basically accepted it and ate shite...
I think that somewhat reverted back during the early Hagar years though..

Roth and Hagar get a lot of crap but seems like the Van Halen brothers are the problem.
Before 1984 came out, they told Michael Anthony to take a flat $250,000 payment and become an employee of the band or be fired.
