Love the Pedal Steel sound

It's probably going to end up being the Hallelujah of its generation.
It is a fantastic song that inspires fantastic covers, though.

I’ve seen that one and agree that it’s great. I’m pretty sure that this one was done as part of the same “project”.

Jeff Buckley made Hallelujah his own--in his own voice.
While adding some unique instrumentation (steel guitar), I find the vocals of this Nutshell version too similar to Staley's--which is strange because Lanegan has such a unique voice.

Totally agree with that. I thought a more appropriate name for that album of his would have been “Whiskey and Cigarettes for the Holy Ghost”.

For clarification - I think that Nutshell (specifically the Unplugged version) is going to inspire as many covers as Hallelujah did and folks might get *ahem* "done" with so many covers.
That's what I meant, and I do like a lot of the Nutshell covers so far.

My favorite Lanegan cover...

That was a great event. There were several good Alice in Chains covers during it. I was kind hoping that would be a regular thing - get good musicians to cover songs written by someone who recently passed away.
Around the same COVID time, the guy who played keyboards with the Spiders from Mars did a Bowie tribute. There's a great version of Nine Inch Nails covering Fashion.

Cool video. Kelliher is even using Jerry Cantrell's signature amp.

I nomally appreciate covers like this stuff. It's nothing like Layne and Cantrell though.

I see him talked about here and other places. I had no clue Srings was from Michigan.

Should have made another album with Mad Season after Layne.

On a related note, my favorite Nutshell cover is by City and Colour.

Was high the other night and stumbled on this version and it sounded really good and haunting.
