Yeah, to hell with those pesky rock guitar solos always getting in the way. What we need is more spoken word!

I've seen roger in concert several times most recently about 6 months ago and walking out I said to myself I wouldn't have any interest in seeing him again if he were to ever play near me again. He's just too much. People don't GAF about your [politics or your spoken word or what you think about America, we simply want ot hear music. And somehow he continues to stray even further away from that by the year.

A. He can’t sing anymore.

B. Subtract one of the greatest blues/rock guitarists of all time? Or even subtract his solos and not have an all star list of guys play Gilmour solos. Is totally not self aware.

When it was originally recorded what is thought of the division of the band workload? Who did the most writing? Lyrically? Music and melody?

Waters turned out to be the worst person in The band.

I think it was mostly roger. I recall that in around '72ish he came up with 2 concept albums and pitched a rough outline of them to the rest of the band. They ended up liking what would eventaully be DSOTM and the other would eventaully end up being Pros and Cons of Hitchhiking. I think roger was generally more often than not the creative force of the band so I get that he feels like this is "his" album or his music.

But agian...nobody GAF about who the album "belongs to" or who's responsible. They just like the way it sounds. Nobody is asking for roger to completely redo this beloved album with less guitar and more speakign parts. It's just incredibly non-self aware as you said previously.

I was team Gilmoure until his bitch came out of nowhere with that recent attack. No need to pour gas on the fire. Roger Waters was clearly the writer of the group but was so much better w/ the input of Gilmoure and the others. I don't mind Waters re-recording DSOTM. It might be at least interesting and we always have the original.

Yeah, Gilmour’s wife attacking Waters is pretty embarrassing.

A re-recording of DSOTM will probably suck but I’ll give it a listen out of curiosity.

I won't. Time isn't a song without that iconic guitar solo.

Apparently it does. His response to her tweet was measured and reasonable considering what she said about him out of nowhere.

You're thinking of the Wall. DSOTM was a much more collaborative effort.

I don't have a problem with musicians doing this.

Sometimes music needs to be refreshed.

I'll give it a listen.

It isn't really out of nowhere. Ever since she got involved with Pink Floyd's music directly (30 years ago on The Division Bell), he's been snarky towards her, in particular.

I haven't seen what she said, so I can't defend it. It's probably over the top and uncalled for, but let's not pretend sweet little innocent Roger Waters has sat on his hands for the 4 decades after David, Nick (and ultimately Rick) told him to "get fricked, you aren't Pink Floyd".

I'm still #TeamGilmour (but with reservations).

So, I glanced at it just now. Seems to be the Gilmours are verklempt over Roger's opposition to continuing the Ukraine War (which I agree with Roger) and his position that Taiwan is just another part of Red China (and I disagree with Roger on this one).

I can't endorse everything she said.

However,

Well, Roger -

Sadly @rogerwaters you are antisemitic to your rotten core. Also a Putin apologist and a lying, thieving, hypocritical, tax-avoiding, lip-synching,misogynistic, sick-with-envy, megalomaniac. Enough of your nonsense.

Roger Water's response:

quote:

Roger Waters is aware of the incendiary and wildly inaccurate comments made about him on Twitter by Polly Samson, which he refutes entirely. He is currently taking advice as to his position.

Again, Waters is coming across as the adult in this recent spat. Also, a man does not let his bitch fight his battles.

A man that thinks he can control and tell his wife what to and what not to do and say is no man in my book. She has her own mind and free will.

Anyway, who said David Gilmour is fighting a battle?
