Overall, I don't like his music, but he does have some talent.

Can see how that would be effective for a jury. But he is also interpreting all of those song snippets in roughly the same style. He could probably do that with any 5 songs that you threw at him.

I mean, he won the lawsuit, but his song is about as derivative as they come, so he lost the argument.

Now he should explain why he sounds just like Tracy Chapman.

All songs and genres are derivative.
As long as lyrics and sheet music are not identical I don’t care

I’m not into him or his music at all but I commend any unattractive red headed man who can sellout stadiums in this day & age of looks based/auto tuned pop music. He is basically a better version of Andy Dwyer of Mouse Rat in Parks & Recreation.

I've wondered which Ed Sheeran will run out of, first: Mathematical symbols to serve as album titles, or shitty songs...

That was his point right?

You can’t copyright the way chords are arranged? Melodys make more sense to sue over. Not a chord progression.

There is a reason there is a CAGED system for guitar. Learn those 5 chords and you can play 100s

Learn to move those 5 shapes? Add a zero.

A guitar is strung a certain way and the strings tuned the way they are for a reason. The human hand can only do so much.

I bet 9 out of 10 people hearing that song for the first time made no connection to Let’s Get It On.
