Simply not true. I say as a Stones fan, the Stones would not have been what they were without the Beatles. They were a blues cover band until they met the Beatles. There is a famous story of Mick and Keith watching John and Paul write "I Wanna Be Your Man" for the Stones. When they saw how quickly John and Paul cranked it out, and with a little persuasion from Andrew Loog Oldham, Mick and Keith started to write their own songs. And the rest is history!
