I hope Peavey has started a trend. They have introduced a new line of budget..

acoustic guitars that are made in The Czech Republic.
LINK
They make really nice stuff there. I have several CZ rifles, and they are an incredible value. Fantastic accuracy, reliability, craftsmanship, at half the price of comparable models.
I've honestly been wondering why lots of guitars aren't already being made there.
The model that I linked has a solid spruce top, laminated mahogany back and sides and built in electronics. It costs 200 bucks less than the comparable Recording King Model, that is made in China.

I bought my Peavey 5150 for $680, now I could probably get $1,680 for it.
But yeah, I feel Peavey has historically always been budget friendly.

I've always liked their logo, its the first I remember seeing as a very young kid. I remember that day, was with my uncle and we went into a music store cause he was buying monitors for live music.
I also had a Peavey PXD Twenty-Three III once

My first electric guitar was a Peavey T-15. I love that little guitar. I traded it in on something I thought was better, then I came across another T-15 in the same area where I use to live, looked identical, so I bought it. I think it's the same guitar, but I don't really have any way to be sure. It's in great shape, but it doesn't sound as good as I remembered.

Are they as nice as my CZ75B ?

CZ making a lot of stuff of decent quality these days - guns, guitars, tools

My first amp was a Peavey TNT. Then I moved up to a TKO. They bother were heavy as crap.
I have a six string Peavey Grind bass now. Plays and sounds awesome.

I actually haven't seen one in person yet or played one yet, but knowing how the Czechs build stuff, it's probably going to be a decent guitar for $250 bucks, and then they will gravitate towards nicer models soon.
Most stuff I've seen from there is pretty tight on details, especially on woodcraft type of things. The wood on their rifles is always very nice, and the metal work and blue is top notch. Maybe some other brands will start doing business there too. That's what I'd like to see happen.
If I owned a music store, I think I would be looking into dealing in some of these guitars. There's a chance that it may not work out, but I see a lot of potential to be on the ground floor of a very successful venture. I'm going to go ahead and order one myself. It's just 250 bucks.

Had a pair of Peavey SP-2 back in the day.

Peavey has always been a company that is known for solid, reliable gear. Maybe not the best sounding, but always solid for a decent price.
They are also responsible for the heaviest musical instrument ever built.

Yamaha does some solid work at this price point as well.

The problem is, most of it is made in China. That's why I'm hoping Peavey can do something different.

I played 1 of these today. Even with a plastic nut and saddle, that guitar sounds fantastic. Better than much more expensive guitars and is very well put together and looks very good. The only problem, the neck is too narrow for me, so I didn't buy it. If you like a skinny neck though, you should check these guitars out. It's a great value.

People can say what they want, but the simple fact is that I have owned quite a few amps over the years, and when talking sparkling clean tones, my Classic 30 is one of the prettiest clean tones I’ve had. Not as much head room as most of the other tube amps of like watts, but spanky and pretty, and an excellent little practice amp. And I simply can’t forget the old Peavey Classic Stereo Chorus and Renown that got me through the late 70’s and early 80’s when I simply couldn’t afford much else at the time. Peavey still continues to serve a niche in the music industry, and will always have a special place in my heart. We have history.

can confirm
now imagine lugging one of these around to play it through:
now imagine being a 130 lbs soaking wet and having to load and unload your own gear for every gig, and you’ve got the Freep experience circa 1981

People are getting spoiled now. It took me about two months longer than I thought it would to sell a Fender P/J recently because of weight. The thing is 9.2 lb., which I think is fine, and folks will just run scared. I guess they never had to deal with a 15 lb. T-40. 9.2 lb. feels like a feather after that.
