I bought a few multiple time. If caught with the music I liked, it was always thrown away. So, had to re-supply.

Yeah, but gas was only $0.89 a gallon and I could eat an entire meal at Taco Bell for less than $3.00, so I probably had more disposable income even though I made less money.

Yeah but you had better bands. You know why? Because they could actually make money and not get ripped off on streams

Well, I bought over 500 CDs, over about a period of twenty years. But you know, I still listen to them all the time. Regardless of the amount of money I shoveled out for them over the years, I have to say that I really got a ton of value out of them, which is still ongoing.
That said, I far more miss record stores in the pre-CD days, when they just offered LP albums. Had great fun browsing, looking over the fronts and backs of album covers. Always neat to be visiting in some town or city, and checking out their shops. But when everything switched to CDs, something seemed to be lost. Maybe it was just the smaller size, which made it harder to read back-covers in dimly lit stores, or just the brittle sound of plastic cases knocking against each other. The selections seemed to concurrently decline in local shops as well, for the kind of offbeat vintage material I was looking for, which forced me to rely on mail-order outlets. So, record stores lost their allure for me around that time.

Don’t forget that in the beginning cd’s were released in the “long box” packaging. I suppose that was to alleviate some of the shock of the huge change in size from LP’s to CD’s. Waste of a lot of cardboard.

I’m with you. Legit purchases, well over 1000. Burned from Napster-type downloads, try counting the grains of sand on the beach.
