I agree the pixies are rated where they should be and think if anything, their influence on Nirvana gets way overblown ( I know what Cobain said in an interview)... There's so much else to their sound...

Never been a fan of Aerosmith, but I find the wonderfully cheesy ballads of the 90s to be the songs of theirs I like best... Angel, Crazy etc... So, terribly awesome!

Also, Steven Tyler is such a... I dont know what... I just hope the jokes on us...

I do own Honkin on Bobo. But that doesn't really count since it isn't their own music.

I'm going to go listen to Rocks when I get home.

Who underrates the Pixies? Honestly. Aren't they pretty much revered as the parents of the alt-rock boom of the 1990s? It seems to me the Pixies are rated just about right.

On this board, Nirvana is underrated, as everyone seems to feel the need to diminish them.

agree 100% with all of that.

Up the Downstair - 1993
The Sky Moves Sideways - 1995
Signify - 1996
Stupid Dream - 1999

Soulhat out of Austin was great until Epic pulled the plug on their contract.

Another band that came to mind when I read your post was a band I saw open up for Blind Melon at the Varsity called Inclined. They were from SoCal and were very funky. They just happened to come out at the same time as Dave Matthews - same genre, poor timing. I am currently on my 3rd CD for them.

Alice in Chains: Had such a cool heavy sound, IMO a lot more distinct than some of the other bands of the time

Morphine: Those guys were awesome. I went to a show and they blew me away. I always wanted them to hit it big, but they never did. Rest in Peace to Mark Sandman

Drive By Truckers formed in the 1990's, but I consider them more of a 2000's band.

The Pixies and Stone Roses generally get the respect they deserve from critics, but they never got the pop success they should have.

I searched but didn't see this topic, but for me its gotta be Blind Melon. Most people call them a "one hit wonder" but I'm just not seeing it. Most of their music is really really good and personally i think No Rain is one of the worst songs they have.

Blind Melon is one of my top 5 of all time, but this distinction goes to Hum.

Once again friend, I am here to agree with you.

Screamin Cheetah Wheelies. Pulled their first album out last year after not hearing it for at least a decade and was blown away. In the regular rotation now.

Loved all their tunes Saw them at the Bonne Fete Festival (2ooo??? I think) here in Baton Rouge and they rocked...Had alot of band members.

Their status should be Beatle-esque. Underrated.
