Went over there to play with him for the first time in a couple of years and his obsession has grown.

Thanks. My wife can’t say a damned thing.
Newest “need” for me is a birth year D35. 1973 BTW.

If you get a '73 Martin, make sure it has had a neck reset prior to you buying it or budget the acquisition accordingly.
Prior to the mid 80s, Martins didn't have truss rods. There are two types of Martins leading up to that period - ones that have had neck resets and ones that need neck resets.
A few times a year I get a guy who brings me a Martin he got for a steal only due to high action. And I get to break the news to them that their acquisition won't be a steal after they pay me to get that action down to modern, tolerable standards. Expect to pay absolutely no less than $500 for a reset from a reputable source.
If I was born in 73 and I was buying a birth year piece of gear, it would probably either be made by Marshall or MXR. Get you an old MXR Phase 90, Phase 100, or Flanger.

Appreciate the info. I was 60/40 sure that I “knew” that already. But would have asked you eventually for confirmation.

need an ovation breadwinner in there if you’re gonna play wichita lineman

Wish I had that kind of space to hang mine. I just have room for 6, the others have to stay in cases until I think about them.

A guy just sent me an email a couple of days ago that has one of those. He wants me to get it in playing condition for him, but the photos that he sent me looked to have a lot of stuff missing, namely the pickups. The guitar looks to be in good shape though.
I haven't replied back to him yet though or asked him about anything, maybe he has it all but just didn't photo everything.
Very unique guitars, that's for sure.

Jimmy Webb's chords in that song are sublime.

That's a guy that can never get enough recognition.

That's why I just sing on that one, which is tough enough. I need to practice those crazy chords and see it I can strum along while singing.

Another great Jimmy Webb tune that sometimes flies under the radar is If These Walls Could Speak. Shawn Colvin did a really good cover of it.

Well, did you think Zappa's Stache, would have normal friends?
That guy does have serious pedal issues though. He must have been ran over by clowns on bicycles when he was young.

Well thanks to this thread I've been strumming Wichita Lineman for the past hour and getting nothing else done.

Even worse, he's an Aggie.
