choked up

When he played Here Today it choked us up. It is a tribute to John and he talked about their friendship, etc. He choked up a bit singing it.

I ended up getting tix for both of the Chicago shows - final 2 nights. I know it's macabre, but at this age, any show could be the last, so I want to be there if that ends up being true. (i.e. I live VERY far from Chicago)

Did VIP for both, but really splurged on the final night. It includes the soundcheck!

Going to see Ringo in Vegas in September too.

I think the talk of his voice being shot are overblown - and seems to be mostly based on his SNL 50 performance. He had done 3 sort of impromptu shows that week and probably over did it. I would expect him to be bringing it for real on this tour. Saw him in 2022, and he was probably 85-90% of his peak.

Not saying he wasn’t good, but this is impossible unless he had help to sound this good.

He was lifted up on like a 40 foot high column where he performed Blackbird completely by himself - voice and guitar. I didn't notice a single thing to complain about.

His band is incredible and they have been together longer than The Beatles and Wings combined. They all sing well too. I noticed he is talking 2 to 3 nights off between shows to rest his voice.

He's coming to Atlanta on November 2nd and 3rd. We are seriously considering going.

As most know I am a Beatles lover.

I mean, it's Paul fricking McCartney. The undisputed, unquestioned GOAT and living king of music.

I’ve seen arena concert videos that were rough. But phone recordings at concerts don’t sound as good as what you hear from the wall of sound with your ears when you’re at the concert. But like I said this is a situation where you have to go see the living legend while he’s still here. Someone like Paul has some of the best sound people in the business.

Thankfully was able to see McCartney back in April of 1993 in the Superdome. It was a Jazz Fest day, we parked at the dome in the morning, spent all day at the fest, shuttled back, went right up to our seats just in time for "Drive My Car". Had to wake my wife up to hear the encore "Hey Jude".
And for those complaining about nosebleeds for $250? Peter Frampton tickets are on sale today for the Saenger in October--similar pricing! While I'd love to be there and would highly recommend sucking it up and paying to see them if you haven't already, being lucky enough to see all these old rockers years ago makes it easier for me to pass on the high ticket prices these days.

1993 Setlist for Macca:

Drive My Car’
‘Coming Up’
‘Looking For Changes’
‘Another Day’
‘All My Loving’
‘Let Me Roll It’
‘Peace In The Neighbourhood’
‘Off The Ground’
‘Can’t Buy Me Love’
‘Robbie’s Bit’
‘Good Rockin’ Tonight’
‘We Can Work It Out’
‘And I Love Her’
‘Every Night’
‘Hope Of Deliverance’
‘Michelle’
‘Biker Like An Icon’
‘Here, There And Everywhere’
‘Yesterday’
‘My Love’
‘Lady Madonna’
‘Live And Let Die’
‘Let It Be’
‘Magical Mystery Tour’
‘C’Mon People’
‘The Long And Winding Road’
‘Paperback Writer’
‘Fixing A Hole’
‘Penny Lane’
‘Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band’
‘Band On The Run’
‘I Saw Her Standing There’
‘Hey Jude’

That early 90s tour was the first time Paul gave into the past and went Beatles heavy at his concerts. Before then he’d only toss in a few. That must have been an amazing experience with the crowd hearing a lot of those songs in concert for the first time ever.

Exactly, it was great. Although he and Linda were still having the venues serve veggie dogs at the concession stands, and led off the concert with a PETA slide show about animal abuses. Years later he said he realized he shouldn't try to force the vegan lifestyle down people's throats (literally!).

I’m not a musician, but it seems to me that playing bass and singing at the same time is somewhat difficult.

Especially for his style of bass playing - which is very melodic and often pretty complex.
